Mysterious Heart Damage, Not Just Lung Troubles, Befalling COVID-19 Patients
Kaiser Health News ^ | Apr 6, 2020 | Markian Hawryluk

... As more data comes in from China and Italy, as well as Washington state and New York, more cardiac experts are coming to believe the COVID-19 virus can infect the heart muscle. An initial study found cardiac damage in as many as 1 in 5 patients, leading to heart failure and death even among those who show no signs of respiratory distress.

That could change the way doctors and hospitals need to think about patients, particularly in the early stages of illness. It also could open up a second front in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, with a need for new precautions in people with preexisting heart problems, new demands for equipment and, ultimately, new treatment plans for damaged hearts among those who survive. ...

The medical profession in a crisis often is forced into learning fast, and it shows that is what some are doing with the complications of Covid-19. By January 2021, with many lessons learned, treatments of Covid-19 patients will be prescribed with a lot more clinical experience behind them.

Really? If so why is the media making a big deal of it just now? Could it be the scumedia has a timed release of all the horrors they can come up with just so the hysteria can be prolonged?

Nah!! They would never do that....right?

I had a roommate in college who described his MOS as a Green Beret as 'destabilizing foreign governments'.

He came home to the first non-elected president in the history of the country.

This fascinated him. He studied everything he could get his hands on and became something of an authority on the fall of Nixon.

One day he declared "Everything that happened to Nixon as step-by-step exactly the steps we were trained to do to overthrow a government! By God there's colonel in the Kremlin who's a general now because of this!"

I looked him in the eye and blandly said, "Are you sure it's the Kremlin and not the Pentagon?"

He didn't talk to me for two weeks...

One of the details he mentioned was what you describe, keep dribbling out the bad news, so the populace never quite calms down between bits of outrageous news about the leader.

I cannot tell you how stupid you sound.

Chuckle!
When a creature called “chickensoup” with a record of actively stirring up panic and hysteria, starts calling people names, it's like what Churchill said, when some fool tried to insult him, and I quote:
“I feel like I have been savaged by a dead sheep”.
Same to you.

I am guessing there are a whole lot of front line docs taking plaquenil according to the royal college of India protocol.

Perhaps not here in Nevada. Gov. Sisolak has forbidden the use of HOCQ under penalty of loss of license. "to prevent hoarding"

Guess who got caught hoarding?

Gov. Sisolak, for his own use and to use in Nevada's prisons.

Got that? He set aside enough to treat all the convicted criminals, and the honest citizens can go f themselves!

I know enough of them. I’m 78 and although so far in perfect health taking no meds I do go for checkups and so does my wife. Along they way to reaching my age I had contact with docs for my kids.

So yeah I know a few and I am far from the only one who believes some Dr’s have a God complex.

this effect has been a hallmark of the disease since the beginning and reported in China as well

OK, that settles it then. NOT!
Did you even read my post before shooting off your stupid mouth?

So they will make more. It is not as if the limits of production were even close to being reached for these particular drugs.

From what I’ve been reading, a major argument against handing out hydroxychloroquine to almost anyone ... is that it causes a shortage for people who are currently relying on it daily for malaria, Lupus, arthritis, etc.

It was the missing RA and lupus patients in the Wuhan Virus infected that was the first clue the Chinese had that HOCQ could be effective against the disease.

Ramping up production, anywhere but China, and preferably in the USofA, is the solution.

Am I a physician

Yes and a damn good one. I have not lost a single CoVId patient

Yes third world infrastructure is not ours.
It is apples to oranges

Please. Get your Fearper brethren go isolate yourself for the rest of humanity and be you to the best of your ability

You and your posts are among the most ignorant most fear mongered most twisted logic that exists. You are nothing but a hack and bully with a keyboard.

It must truly be awful to have your world view and rejoice in whatever misery you can find.

No further response to you as you are unreachable.

As I learned never argue with an idiot. They will reduce you the their level and then defeat you with the experience. You see, you are an idiot. And apparently have a lot of experience.

You are incorrect. ARDS can be cause by any viral agent. You are higher risk with more comorbidities.

I agree with the latter two of those things, and have posted references to those things myself.

I have seen an awful lot of non CoVId cases in my time influenza and other respiratory tract infection where the risk is heart disease and leads to the exact same pathology and pathophysiology.

Are you saying that in your experience this applies often even where you have non-respiratory presentations? More than the occasional, and where hypertension is mild, under control, or has receded and is no longer evident even without further treatment? I am indeed aware that with the more severe cases of high blood pressure that most any stressor can push them over the edge, but this appears to go well beyond that.

That’s it, just ignore what’s going on outside your happy little borough.

Lalala, I can’t see it, I can’t hear it.

Some doctor.

I saw that. Y’all need to recall his ass and hang this around his neck. And let’s see Las Vegas not too far from a couple of state lines. I’ll take a bet that front line Las Vegas docs have found a way to procure plaquenil for prophylaxis.

I will go you one further null.... until there is a vaccine high risk individuals should be on prophylaxis with plaquenil.

That sounded like the solution, but are the current applications in NYC really so limited that they have no apparent effect on the number of deaths? Or is it perhaps it is explained that two-week window where initial patients are too far along to be helped by it?

Yes.
But then that has been the case for decades, with viral infections. It didn't start with coronavirus.
The point being those with a political agenda(the media, Democrats etc) are using the slightest thing to put more fuel on the fire to create as much panic as they can.
