WASHINGTON - More than two months into what President Donald Trump calls a "war" against COVID-19, his administration's efforts to combat the deadly disease, along with its disastrous effects on the U.S. economy, are often creating more problems than they solve.
Bidding wars for life-saving equipment, a power struggle between Trump's son-in-law and the vice president, political gamesmanship, the centralization of authority and decentralization of accountability, and the creation of new government programs while standing bureaucracies are ignored, have all contributed to chaos within the political, economic and health care systems.
Banks haven't been able to process loan applications for a new Small Business Administration relief program, companies trying to produce personal protective equipment for medical professionals can't get the Federal Emergency Management Administration's attention, and doctors and ventilators at ambulatory surgery centers idled by a soft moratorium on elective operations are on the sidelines.
Those problems are minor compared to the crunch of rising coronavirus cases, the scarcity of ventilators and the possibility that trillions of dollars in aid won't be enough - or well-directed enough - to prevent a catastrophic economic collapse.
It all adds up to a sense that no one is really in charge in the midst of the most daunting crisis the nation has faced in generations.
"This country is re-learning what it understood during the Cold War - we don't elect presidents for the good days, we elect them to handle the bad days," said Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif. "Donald Trump is incapable of handling a bad day, let alone a protracted pandemic."

Yeah, that's not very comforting. When this is worse than cancer in a few days, will you finally wake up? If the cancer rate for the country suddenly doubled, most sane people would call it a crisis. Coronavirus will kill more people than 9/11 every two days, and that justified a 20 year war.
Viruses spread quickly, and then they are more or less over, especially when herd immunity develops. Unfortunately that is not the case for cancer.
The whole point is you FEARbros — who were predicting 2,000 deaths a day in the USA would occur 2 weeks ago — continue to be wrong in how apocalyptic and dystopian this will be.
Yet 2 weeks later, your predictions of 2,000 a day have yet to materialize
so when people point out that your screeching hysteria is just as harmful as completely denying there’s a problem, the response from you FEARbros is:
1. move the goalposts
2. blame the model, but here’s a new dystopian model
3. call people who disagree with you idiots, Luddites, etc.
Pathetic is what the FEARbros are, and the main thing to ponder now is — what’s your real agenda, your hidden agenda? that would be the fascinating revelation.
Sober observers have it right:
1. if it’s as bad as you predicted, you FEARbros can trumpet: “See we FEARbros told you so”
2. if it’s not as bad as you predicted, rather than admit you were wrong, you simply say “See, thanks to us FEARbros, the measures to destroy the U.S. economy worked!”
then you simply switch to apocalyptic predictions about the new Great Depression we are now in — thanks to our voluntary shutdown of what once was the greatest economy in world history.
thankfully, people like the FEARbros weren’t in charge at key points in American history, or we would still be singing Rule Brittania, would be split into two nations, or be speaking German or Russian as a primarily language.
We fortunately had actual men, not pansies like the participants of FEAR Republic, running the show at those crucial moments.
Believe it or not, bigger picture, we are on the same side. We want Trump reelected. Trust me here, you need to change your tune if you want that to happen. When this many people die, you need a coherent response to this because there will be a lot of angry people with dead loved ones. You'd be better off admitting you were wrong, and blaming the WHO lies. Find someone besides the truth tellers to scapegoat. Time to get off and burn the FLUBRO bandwagon.
I have my torch ready — for the FEARbros bandwagon
Never have so many journolists worked so hard to demean and diminish the efforts of those who are saving their bacon and have more than once.
So now this “analyst” is quoting Eric Swallwell as evidence, one of the most clueless individuals ever to serve in Congress (and there is stiff competition for that distinction).
What a joke.
Also dives into multiple false narratives that don’t exist - non-existent “power struggle” between Kushner and Pence, etc.
There are people even now on this forum still arguing COVID19 is no worse than even the common cold.
Yeah, that is enough said.
And he’s NBC’s “Senior Political Analyst.” He’s not engaging in any analysis of real events whatsoever - just writing left-wing propaganda.
Anyone surprised this is nbc’s conclusion?
In January of this year Dr. Fauci said the Kung Flu wasn’t a big problem.
Wonder why the DNC Media doesn’t show those Interviews?
Because, IMO, until fairly recently, Drudge had been on our side. Or you could go ask them. I wasn’t complaining.
“Trump’s coronavirus response creates more chaos...”
...among those who hate him.
Why do I get the feeling this was written two months ago?
5G will destroy Comcrap first.
If enough people cancel comcast, Roku and firestick can pick up the slack.
