Reports out of Berlin tell of a German Arctic cruise ship being fired on by a Venezuelan naval vessel, which then rammed the passenger liner, sinking itself in the process.
No, this is not a story that appeared in The Onion.
The Jerusalem Post says that the incident occurred on March 30 and took place in international waters.
The Iranian regime-allied Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro accused the captain of the RCGS RESOLUTE cruise ship of terrorism and piracy" and sought to force the ship into a new direction on the high seas. The cruise ship, which had no passengers on board and was sailing under a Portuguese flag, has a reinforced hull that enables it to sail through ice water.
An unarmed passenger ship accused of "terrorism and piracy"? Well, it is the Venezuelan navy.
Columbia Cruise Services continued, stating that Shortly after mid-night, the cruise vessel was approached by an armed Venezuelan navy vessel, which via radio questioning the intentions of the RCGS RESOLUTEs presence and gave the order to follow to Puerto Moreno on Isla De Margarita. As the RCGS RESOLUTE was sailing in international waters at that time, the Master wanted to reconfirm this particular request resulting into a serious deviation from the scheduled vessels route with the company DPA.

According to the statement, While the Master was in contact with the head office, gun shots were fired and, shortly thereafter, the navy vessel approached the starboard side at speed with an angle of 135° and purposely collided with the RCGS RESOLUTE. The navy vessel continued to ram the starboard bow in an apparent attempt to turn the ships head towards Venezuelan territorial waters.
Should I be laughing? Is it really that funny? Just the image in my head of some hapless Venezuelan captain giving the order to ram a cruise ship again and again makes me giggle.
Today’s “feel good” story.
This is so idiotic it sounds like the 3 little Pigs tale.
Things are not going well for Maduro Oblongatta!!
These are Finnish and Yugoslav classes of ship primarily built under Russian specifications for the Soviet cruise lines between mid-1970s and 1990s has enough distinguishing features not to pull such foolish thicks against them. They are breaking ice most other ships are sinking upon hitting.
A destroyer ramming it is alike an egg trying to break a frying pan.
This is such a feel good story it has been reposted a number times this week. But it never gets old.
And it you silly Germans do not leave we shall send another ship and sink ourselves again!
To help with their toilet shortage?
It’s good to be rooting for the Germans again.
No guts, no glory.
JoMa
This is the funniest story I have read in a long time.
This is the part that makes me laugh,
“RCGS Resolute is a purpose built polar expedition vessel of the highest ice class, rated 1A Super, designed to operate in difficult ice conditions.”
Really bad idea to ram one of these.
Lol!
On Democrat sites, they a blaming Trump.
Convoluted theory about Trump being evil for calling out Madours for being a drug smuggler and using Wuhan virus as cover for invasion.
lol
Maybe a couple of surface raiders like the Atlantis might be a good idea.
“These are Finnish and Yugoslav classes of ship primarily built under Russian specifications for the Soviet cruise lines between mid-1970s and 1990s”
Wow! It would be stupid to mess with the ship if it were a run-of-the-mill icebreaker, such as one built by a ‘capitalist entity’, but the Soviets DID NOT mess around when it came to using steel.
The poor navy there...they never had a prayer.
Did they know there were no rich tourists on board? If they did, that eliminates kidnapping for ransom.
Maybe they wanted the ship, for some reason?
Maybe they just wanted the Buffet...
Looks like a bit of bondo and a few cans of spray paint and wax will take care of it.
That WILL buff right out.
This is at least the third time this story has posted but I never seem to get tired of reading it.
