"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore."
Remember that line from the famous American movie "Network"? It's time for a rebellion. Every out-of-work American and every out-of-business American business owner needs to open their windows and shout it, shout it so loud it reaches President Donald Trump, Congress and every swamp politician from Washington D.C., to New York to Boston to Beverly Hills, California.
It's time for this madness to stop. Mr. President, do you understand how many suicides of prominent business owners are going to start piling up?
Here in Las Vegas, a business owner closed his business, laid off his 45 employees (with tears in his eyes) and then went home and committed suicide. Did you see that in the news?
It's happening across America.
Do you understand the pain of the employees? People can't even get through to file for unemployment benefits. The websites have been down for days on end. No one answers the phones.
Do you understand how many lives are being ruined, how many jobs are being killed, how many great businesses will never reopen? The people are getting desperate and despondent. They have no money for food, rent, gas or survival.
We can't stay closed. We have to open up the U.S. economy. There is no more time for debate. There is no more room for caution. I have ideas and compromise below.
First, these coronavirus "death counts" have to stop. You're scaring people half to death. I suggest new kinds of death counts be put up on the screens to compete:
-- JOBS KILLED by this complete business shutdown.
-- BUSINESSES CLOSED.
-- AMERICAN DREAMS DESTROYED.
-- SUICIDES.
Another Great Depression will destroy this great nation. And we're on the way, unless you open this economy again.
And why not open America for business again -- with tight restrictions? What is happening now makes absolutely no sense. We are allowed to shop at big-box stores like Costco, Walmart and Home Depot; health food stores like Whole Foods and Sprouts; grocery stores; pet stores; auto part stores; pawn shops; marijuana stores; liquor stores; and gun stores. And get this: Golf courses are open.
If all of that is allowed, why can't we open all stores and businesses but with the same health precautions and restrictions?
I love and appreciate the UPS drivers and Costco cashiers on the front lines. But if they can work, why can't the rest of us? Do Costco checkout guys and gals and supermarket cashiers have a big S on their chest? If they can face it and survive, why can't the rest of us?
The liberal Democratic mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, just recommended everyone wear masks and scarves. Isn't this the compromise to get us all back to work?
Here's the mantra for the day: Wear a mask. Get back to work!
We need to open the U.S. economy before it's too late, before we're all doomed -- not from coronavirus but from the fallout of a Great Depression. Here is the compromise. Here are the new rules.
Anyone who wants to stay home can. If you want to collect welfare, food stamps and unemployment, you can. Anyone at high risk -- seniors, the sick, the obese, those with illness -- should shelter at home.
But the rest of us (the working people of America) are willing to take the risk; to keep our businesses alive; to save jobs; to save the economy; to prevent a Great Depression; to prevent mass suicides, alcoholism, drug addiction, poverty and misery.
We can all work -- just like the Costco employees and supermarket cashiers and UPS drivers. We can all wear masks. Our customers can wear masks. We can all practice social distancing. Employees can stand six feet apart. Stores can limit customers. New customers can be allowed to only go in when others leave. We can sanitize our workplaces and stores like never before.
It's time to start organizing a mega call campaign to President Trump, Congress and local politicians across this country. It's time to tell them that the American people want to take precautions, that we'll accept restrictions but we need to get back to work. Or we're holding you accountable for ruining our jobs, careers, businesses, dreams, lives.
The pandemic is horrible. But we can't keep the economy closed. Your caution and fear are killing our lives more than any pandemic. The politicians are destroying America.
Shout it: "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
Then stay home and cocoon yourself you GD fool. We don't do want see your sorry a$$ in public anyway.
Yes capitalism is a confidence game of a better future and sustainability. The confidence was blown which was the Democrats first goal from the get go.
As of yesterday, here in Ohio we have 1 death in the 0-49 yr old age category.. The other 100 feathers were 50 and older. And only 7 of those were aged 50-59..
Bottom line is keep the 60 and older home and reopen the state. This is beyond ridiculous and I suspect this virus isn’t the reason for the shut down.
Why are all government employees getting full pay plus the corona check for 1200 and 500 per kid? They are on more of a paid vacation than anything and then get bonus corona bucks to boot? It doesn’t even make sense..
What they were doing at first seemed to be working really well. But, even South Korea's numbers are starting to climb again.
who made you the judge and jury of all mankind. You should be denied all your rights for posting that unkind garbage towards your fellow country men and women. For starters they need to confiscate your computer.
Exactly. I've always said that what we should do is just quarantine those who are the most vulnerable, and send the young and healthy back to work. But, it might scare you to find out just how much of the population meets the definition of "vulnerable." And, if some inconsiderate jack-ass goes around infecting people, prosecute him just like we do AIDS carriers who knowingly go around infecting other people.
Well, you poor, money-grubbing jack-ass, does that mean I can keep all my money at home too? Surely you won't need any of that LOL!
Will it be because of the growing chorus of wailing cries demanding social freedom and economic liberty? Perhaps, but the main reason will be simpler: there's no there, there.
Here's what it looks like graphically. We are currently tracking Italy by 8 days (from dates of first CV deaths). In order to match the scary IHME model estimates, we'd have to go back and track Italy by 18 days. Yeah, those days where they were experiencing high double digit growth in fatalities and were sort of out of control.
It's done; time to move on. We have massive capacity coming quickly on line in terms of facilities, staffing, equipment, supplies, as well as expanding clinical knowledge, to directly attack/control the virus. If any hotspots were to (re)emerge, we now have the ability to focus & direct resources towards any specific cities/regions.
Get your masks ready, boys & girls, and get ready to rumble.
some places arent doing that anymore.🙄
Bkmrk
I agree with you. Our own little Hitler wannabe posting on Free Republic. How lovely.
As an attorney, you either need grammar lessons or to stay off of the bottle when you post.
I don’t know whether you caught it or not, but I believe Birx indicated in yesterday’s press conference that we are about 12 days behind Italy on the curve. Your figure of 8 has been a good calculation, but I wonder whether you might consider moving your estimates in that direction.
As I gather, that would mean that the figures would worsen (not as much as 18 as you mentioned yesterday) but might be more in line with the actual decision making figures used by the administration.
Thanks for your insight on these threads.
Note to Wayne Root:
I live in N NEVADA.
There has been absolute silence here in the Reno market about such a business owner laying off his people & committing suicide.
I am not saying it didn’t happen, but if it is such a huge problem as you seem to think it is, why isn’t it being spiken about 450 miles north in the same state?
Are you equally angry about our Democrat Governor BANNING Nevada doctors from using the chloroquine drugs to treat those tested as positive in Nevada?
Then-—re you even more incensed about the fact that Sisolak has had his “Dept of Correction’ PURCHASING MASSIVE quantities of the drug?
FOR PRISONERS???
There are around 3 million residents of Nevada. EXACTLY how many prisoners are there in Nevada?
WHY is MY tax money being used to buy massive quantities for PRISONERS & the same Governor is BANNING state medical persons from doing their job to the best of their ability & prescribing that drug for COVID 19 patients???
I am pretty sure that I pay more in taxes to support the state than ANY prisoner.
Where is YOUR outrage over Sisolak’s actions??? Plenty of us here in N Nevada re plenty outraged at Sissypants.
Some of the more ardent flubro's are destined to die from sucking chest wounds because they are too stupid to live. Many of them don't have the good sense God gave a goat.
If you remain isolated like the scared wet cornered rat you appear to be then how pray tell will a flu bro infect your sorry fetid a$$?
Signed,
Curious.
Man yells at cloud.
South Korea has the same fatality rate as Texas
Agree. This whole thing is insane. One of my husband’s old side kicks put up a thread on his FB page asking people all over the country to go take a video of their local hospital. Then he started posting all these videos of basically empty hospitals that were coming in. Now OAN news is doing a story on him and taking their own videos. Folks there is no epidemic going on that warrants this level of lockdown.
So, youre a democrat then. Youre also a wannabe tyrant.
We had 260 employees. We terminated, laid-off, and furloughed half of them. The rest got pay cuts and hours cuts. The family (owners) are only looking out for themselves and the remaining employees are doing the very least possible without getting noticed.”””
Can YOU think a minute ahead of yourself?
IF that family business is going to reopen again-—it must have the funds to do so.
Depleting itself into complete bankruptcy to pay employees a few days longer will only achieve a final conclusion that means there will be NO job to come back to for all 260 employees.
You didn’t indicate what kind of business it is—what it produces, etc. IF it is as large as 260 employees, that is a good record for a ‘family business’.
Trump signed the bill that gives laid off employees on UNEMPLOYMENT an EXTRA $600 on top of their unemployment. With RARE cases, I would bet that is more unemployment money than your normal net paycheck. So- STAY at home—no commuting costs—no daily lunches out—and no wear & tear on your vehicle....and the possibility of a higher payment than a normal layoff situation. WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM???
I do realize that the Unemployment offices are swamped, but what if your job location had burned down completely? How long would it take to actually rebuild that business & YOUR job???
ALL of us are having to adjust.
Many persons have never developed the attitude of at least SOME level of being prepared with supplies on hand-—but they sure can flock to the store & replace their perfectly good cell phones with the ‘latest & greatest’ cell phones at an even higher cost. How many supplies to have on hand could that new cell phone purchase have provided???
I find it hard to have much sympathy for those who literally live moment to moment & then find themselves in a bind when a Country like China does this TO THE WHOLE WORLD!!!
Maybe you should use some of this time off to review your own household budget & locate the spending you are wasting.
