Dr. Deborah Birx: This Is Not the Time to Go to the Grocery Store
Breitbart ^ | 4/4/20 | Charlie Spiering

Posted on 04/04/2020 6:58:35 PM PDT by david1292

Dr. Deborah Birx said Saturday that Americans should especially focus on social distancing guidelines in the next two weeks to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe,” she said.

Birx noted that Pennsylvania, Colorado, and the Washington, DC, metro area were starting to have an increasing number of cases.

“We’re hoping and believing that if people mitigate strongly, the work that they did over the last two weeks will blunt that curve,” she said.

She pointed to really bad hotspots in New Jersey and New York, where cases of the virus and deaths were still going up.

“The next two weeks are extraordinarily important,” she said.

Dr. Anthony Fauci also said three or four hotspots were continuing to rise, but that certain areas could flatten the curve by social distancing.

“Just make sure everybody does the at least minimal amount of that physical separation, because the virus has no place to go if you’re physically separating,” Fauci said.

And those are the confirmed/tested cases.
Not the folks who feel ill, but are not ill enough to warrant testing.
Nor the carriers who are asymptomatic.

Don’t know.

I have Diabetes, high blood pressure, and I have had two heart attacks.

What her advice is to other people doesn’t really matter to me, David.

During the 2018-19 flu season, about 35 million people in the US contracted the flu and about 34,000 died, according to the CDC.

Amazon is now selling Grocery Shopping Suits (complete with Walter White beard). You might want to get shoe cover booties, too.

The Doom twins are just giving the most extreme advice as if the entire country was the same as the worst hot spot in NYC because they are all in for the National shutdown.

Not sure why it was moved.
= = = = = = = = =

I realize I am being redundant here but MAYBE

Nobody has a clue as to WTF is going on.

Last Tues AM the surgeon general was on WMAL (WashDC) at 0830 saying masks were a waste of time for the general population, citing several reasons like not knowing how to wear, get proper fit etc etc etc

Later that day the ‘rumor’ started that they were going to recommend wearing masks while out.

A week later it was suggested, and like we don’t know what is next.

I can picture them picking out a brand which is in VERY short supply, demand ALL wear them and arrest you for not wearing something that someones(in the decision making dept) BIL will make a fortune out of.
(Remember they are clearing out the jails for humanitarian reasons...GUESS they want plenty of room for those that dare defy these little tin horn martinets-each state trying to outdo the other. before you know it the mayors will all add their little punitive actions, trying to outdo the govs...)

Kind of like the guy joins the Navy in the 50s and homos were put in the brig and given discharges.
He then pointed out that by the mid 60s they were just given ‘not so bad’ discharges and he used the time line to figure it was time for him to get out before it became mandatory.

I use depends adult diapers as a mask..unused ones from when I had a colonoscopy and wanted to protect the car seats driving in...just in case. Most will find that the crotch is a little wide, so use a twister from a loaf of bread by your nose.

I’ve chickened out several times.

Ready to walk out the door, then I can’t.

Doing anything I’ve always done has become a mental war with myself in my own head.

The New World sucks.

I wonder if anyone is doing a study on just how long it takes for humans to lose all hope. Because that is what is going to begin, with all this never-ending “just two more weeks” BS. When normal people are pushed way beyond their endurance, hope begins to fail. And anger and desperation begin.

I have 2 total cases in my county.

A lot depends on your county board of health and how aggressive they are in their testing regimen.

Does your county also provide information on the number of folks who tested negative?

This equation would give you a very rough estimate of potential cases provided there were at least 1000 tests administered.

(#tested positive / # tested) * Total population = potential # of cases.

It's not just about riding the subway. The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA - New York City subway, buses, and Long Island Railrod) and the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) reduced service so with fewer trains and buses running, there are more people in each one. They were rolling homeless shelters on a good day anyway.

Does anyone really believe that a virus from anywhere in the world didn't spread all over New York City in a week?

How many people have already gotten this and have overcome it? There are too many people describing illnesses back in January and February that match this coronavirus - and this is with a reported 80% showing little or no symptoms who would have had it and not realized it.

Forget about stocking avoiding shopping this week. What is everyone going to do for Wuhanic Plague 2021, 2022, 2023, etc.? - because this is going to be repeated until the failed blue states such as California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, etc. get their CONTINUOUS bailouts. They've driven themselves into insurmountable debt, especially with THEIR unfunded payoffs, and don't care what they do to the economy because they haven't been part of it since 2016 and show no signs of changing THEIR communist behavior. How does a governor of any of these states explain how in a booming economy their states got worse? How many residents have already abandoned these states only to have these states now try to screw them again?

On the plus side, there are a lot of hypocrites that are going to have a tough time opening their mouths to oppose such things as the border wall since the scared citizenry would have no qualms about Trump throwing such hypocrites over it. (for the children, you know)

Horseshit!

I’ve previously looked up the numbers that piece of crap is purporting to reflect and it’s a joke.

Posting this is absurd.

Where is the source. I would love to see the data sets attributed to this nonsense. Where are the statistics sourced? What does the data set actually represent?

More details please....

You can see in the graph that the flu season has a longer duration than CCP-19, so far The graph accounts for the flu deaths you mention over time.

People are dying much faster within a shorter period of time with CCP-19 as illustrated.

Morale to the graph- It’s not the flu.
