Yawn....

So predictable. So boring.

Won’t cost Trump a single vote.

Dr. Frank McGeorge explains, at 1:50 min in video below, that Abbott Lab’s 4 tests / hour machines are still not fast enough for “bulk” (my word) testing. Bulk tests may be slower, but significantly more tests in a day.
Detroit to receive new COVID-19 test that provides results in minutes

I’m hopeful that we’ll be seeing more medical breakthroughs in fighting COVID-19.

Corrections, insights welcome.

Testing is part of it, sure. But as long as we have infected Chinese spies purposefully infecting Americans, it really won’t matter. Are the Chicoms behind the Democrats and Leftist press attacking and preventing the use of chloroquine and other known cures? I think so!!!

Did the Chinese just take an aircraft carrier out of service by infecting her crew? I think so!!!

We can test all we want, but if we don’t kill the Chinese vectors purposefully infecting us, what’s the point? Call it, Mr. President! The Chicoms have and are attacking and killing us!!!

Again, accurate.

I calculated the current rate of increase as of yesterday to be a doubling every 2.8 days. Two days before that it was about 2.72 or so. Maybe some turning of the curve but not much at all.

Colorado Springs is one of the two major leftist strongholds in Colorado (the other being Denver). Reasons - universities where fertile minds are being feed leftist mush and you know “Mush in, mush out” (I rewrote it, being an old Lefty-hunter having met the cream of the old US communist theoreticians, to “Marxist Shit in, Marxist Shit out”.

Also, that is where a lot of leftist politicians live or hang-out, plus their governors have been nutcases and pass their craziness around amongst a changed political scene. Polis is a nut, period.

You can’t test for a disease, esp. a new one or a “novel” form (the Wash. Post uses the word “novel” as in “novel coronavirus” in a very confusing manner, which is typical for W.P. leftist writers), unless you know what it is, how it is structured, transmitted, what it feeds upon, and its life span.

Red China deliberately DID NOT give us their total data from last year, and not much useful stuff in Jan.-Feb. 2020. Wonder why?

Obama had at least 7 years (the first year in office doesn’t really count as it is a build-up of staff and policies period for a new, incoming administration). Thusly, Obama, his CDC, FDA, EPA, etc. had about 6 years in which to deal with SARS, MERS, etc. epidemics and their causes, transmission methods, internal structures, and treatments/cures. He didn’t build us CDC stockpiles of masks, filters, drugs, etc.

Guess who screwed around kowtowing to Islamic extremists, ignoring internal and external threats (ISIS and its affiliates, the Moslem Brotherhood, Hamas, Hezbollah, Communist Cuba/Venezuela and Nicaragua, as well as the drug cartels and extensive drug use in the US)? OBAMA

Lay much of this at the feet of Obama and his Marxist/incompetent advisors - Samantha Powers, Rice, Dunn, JARRETT the real power, Axelrod, his lawyers, Rhodes, Plfouphe?, Dr. Zeke “Death Panel” Emanuel, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, PELOSI, SCHUMER, Durbin, etc).

The writer likes to mix apples and oranges but comes up with something that gives its drinkers a headache. She should have stuck to the issue of “testing” as a major possible tactic to fight the epidemic, but like most liberals, she has to spread her views around, often in areas of what she knows very little.

Otherwise, it was an interesting anti-Trump column.

Well, my snark was directed at the press report, which is a deeply unserious attempt to further the “Trump took to long to order tests” narrative.

Which we learned was false: the FDA was stuck in their bureaucratic rut, and for a few weeks there at the beginning, had only licensed the CDC to create and run the tests.

What Trump did next was classic Trump, and exactly what was needed: explained to the FDA that they needed to get with the program and allow lots of labs to develop and run tests, while he reached out to the private sector to make it happen, fast.

So, yeah, there was a slow start, thanks to the swamp. I don’t think that there’s been a chief executive who would work so hard with the private sector to cut through the red tape and unleash the creativity of these companies and labs on the problem.

But to your question. I’m just some dude on the internet, but I do think that the strategy that Dr. Birk started to outline makes a certain amount of sense. If we had a cheap, fast, widely available antibody test, and if as we suspect large numbers of people have had it and don’t realize it and are thus immune, those people could be told that they’re safe to go back to work and go about their lives.

That leaves two groups. First is the currently infected. If we had a quick, reliable test that would show infection even before symptoms start, we could do a lot better with quarantine of the sick. There’s a long history of this, and even a body of law in every state that recognizes this and specifies what the state can, and cannot do in this regard. We can dust off those laws and put them to use (frankly, they already have been in many places.)

Then finally those who are not sick, and who have no immunity. There is no precedent in our system of government that allows the state to demand that a healthy individual, who has committed no crime and poses a threat only to himself to be quarantined. We can’t allow this murderous CCP virus to be the agent that allows this.

People need to be left to make up their own minds. If you’re at risk, maybe you limit your contacts more strictly than if you’re younger and have no pre-existing conditions. But the answer can’t be a state where we have to “show our papers” to go about our private lives.

I think most of us posting on this forum somewhere along the line took an oath to “Defend and protect the Constitution of the United States of America”. The wording might vary depending on the context of when that oath was made, but I’ve never heard of a single one that had an expiration date.

So it’s not really a question for the experts. I voted for Donald Trump, not Drs. Birk and Fauci. And I think that his instinct is to get America back to work, even if we have to accept some risk.

Right now we have an abundance of people more than willing to roll the dice and be guinea pigs, but right now the guinea pigs are getting all the dripigs for the next 18 months to 2 years. Trump needs to furlough the FDA and start offering thoses that have the disease the option to try the drug. No placebos. No blind tests. 50 patients try “drug X” and these are the results. Even after approval its going to take time to get manufacturing for the drug ramped up, this is shear madness and death by rule of bueracracy!

< life expectancy and quality of life have been very simple: clean water, sanitation, prevention through vaccinations, and q arantine. >

True in 3d world countries and 19th century US. But not now.

Alcohol, tobacco, drugs (legal and illegal), sugar and promiscuous sex are the statistically relevant determiners of life expectancy and quality of life.

Alcohol and drugs destroy the kidneys and liver, tobacco the lungs, sugar obesity and high blood pressure. Promiscuous sex results in STDs, HIV. All weaken the body and make one vulnerable to disease and early death.

Of course, then there is old age.

I worked on a really snarky comment to this yet-another-example of ridiculously broken journalism. It was great. References to the Vulcan High Command and everything. But I deleted it. Waste of time.

Being tested means jack and shite. Test negative today, tomorrow you test positive. It only IDs someone who has been exposed, a negative test today is only good until tomorrow.

Yeah - if only there were enough tests and manpower available to test every human being....a ,little bit of reality always comes in handy...Thomas Paine would probably write a new pamphlet these days...”Commonness of Uncommon Stupidity”

My take is a lack of hand sanitizer and face masks sealed our fate. Face masks are needed for people that work and travel closely together. As Jeanine Pirro said a few weeks ago on her show,”Wash your damn hands”.
