Allegory. I suspect the young girl was emblematic of a young America. This is a parable (not a story). The democrat ending is, she has an abortion or two then several kids by different John's and lives a life of welfare.
If she succeeded in getting off crank, her rewired brain probably turned her into a fat blimp. The other story is what happened to the boy that would have dated her had everything been normal? For every girl cheated out of her childhood, there's probably a boy cheated out of his.
