Cardiac arrest victims whose hearts cannot be restarted at the scene are now being left there rather than being brought to coronavirus-strained hospitals for further revival attempts, according to a new guidance for medical responders.
The Regional Emergency Medical Services Council of New York, which oversees the citys ambulance service, issued the guidance on Tuesday in a letter obtained by The Post.
Previously, people whose hearts could not be restarted on the scene would be brought to the hospital.
But the new guidance is a grim calculus thats meant to save lives, one veteran EMS worker told The Post.
Theyre trying to do what they can with the people who have the most likely chance of being saved, the worker said.

Where they could be officially pronounced dead.
McD’s and other fast food places have Defibrillators.
They even have picture instruction cards that look just like the menu on the cash register.
Hey sparky, heart stopped?
Want fries with that?
Zaaaapp!
Protocol 9: Cardiac or Respiratory Arrest/Death
This isn't about the hospitals. It's about the EMTs.
I'm sure that's true for the most part. But the victims would get CPR and oxygen on the way to the hospital and some would get resuscitated there. But that might only be a few, I have no idea.
Flu
Truth is after 5 minutes of VF the chance of survival is under 5%. You not only need to shock the heart but also correct the reason why the person’s heart stopped. If the doctors can convert the person’s heart to a stable rhythm odds are the patient will be critical and spending days in the cardiac ICU and using a lot of resources. In times like this sadly triage must occur and I am sure hospitals will institute a scoring system to determine who to code and who not to code.
Its a dicey issue most people arent aware of. It varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Some places only an MD can pronounce death. The implications that unfold from that policy are profound but most people cant anticipate them.

CPR has a low success rate. If a person isn’t revived on the scene by a defibrillator, well...

I wonder. If the teams haven't been organized, who answers the the phone?
Battlefield decisions on Americas streets. There simply must be an accounting at the end.
A STOPPED heart cannot be restarted with a defibrillator, contrary to every moronic TV drama.
A FIBRILLATING heart, one that is just vibrating out of sequence, CAN be DE-FIBRILLATED to regain normal rhythm.
Stop spreading this nonsense please. It’s irritating.
+.
EMT’s all know if you can’t get the heart started at the home the person is probably DRT. If they aint breathing when you show up, chances are they arent gonna start again . So do they give up trying? no.The family is watching.
Obozocare. It is called a fivefer. saved-diagnosed-treated-die-and embalmed all in the same bed.
And you only had to pay 1600.00 a month for this fab health care.
I keep reading about these swamped, overwhelmed, turning people away hospitals. Has NYC developed a better way to censor social media than the Chicoms? Where are the videos of the bedlam, the triage units, the corpses in the hallways? I saw pictures from Italy of a very busy unit the media was passing off as NYC but no real evidence. Every person in those hospitals has a phone and an interest in publicizing the horror conditions. Find me one video that reflects whats being reported about NYC hospitals. Until I see proof, not MSM hoped for speculation, looks like a flu epidemic in NY to me.
Another sign this is just the flu and we have nothing to worry about PING.
Where are all of these hospitals that are supposedly so overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients that they can’t see any other type of patients?
DeFibrillate at the scene, CPR to the hospital, hospitals have doctors
