Climate change? What climate change? Pandemic changes federal policy priorities (Economic fallout threatens Washington momentum to counter climate change)

The coronavirus pandemic could take away the momentum that has built in the past few years for new federal policies to counter climate change.

“What I fear is everyone is so focused on the problem at hand that I don't think climate issues are on the front burner again,” said Rep. Francis Rooney of Florida, a Republican who supports a carbon tax.

“All the eggs are scrambled until these things are solved and steady. I hope we don't lose the momentum we've gained among Republicans," Rooney said in an interview with the Washington Examiner.

Polls over recent years have shown voters of both parties are more concerned about climate change as they recognize extreme weather events. But voters are less willing to support policies such as carbon taxes or mandates that are perceived as requiring economic trade-offs. The expected sharp economic recession could heighten the sense that the trade-offs are too much.

"Polls over recent years have shown voters of both parties are more concerned about climate change" HUH? Last time I looked it was #17 out of 18 concerns. So, in my esteemed opinion, the washingtonexaminer article is a yawner. It's not as if leaving it on the back burner is a bad thing. Actually it probably should be in the pantry. If the erf seems to be cleansing itself in just a month or so since cower in place edicts were made, then how bad was it really? Nature will recover just fine with out ecowanker tears.

One manufactured hysteria is as good as another. Either one will advance the Prog fantasies but it looks like WuFlu Hysteria is even better than Climate Change.

The climate has been changing since the beginning of time.

It will change how it will regardless of what we do.

Has anyone else found it ironic that the hysteria over Climate Change was based on scary models that predicted rising oceans, dying coral reefs, and widespread famine based on temperature trends that never materialized, and our current extreme and unprecedented economic shutdown reaction to the China Syndrome was also based on scary models that predicted a 5-10% death rate that also hasn't materialized?

Leaders will soon say that the reason why the scary death rates didn't materialize was because of the extreme measures taken, just as environmentalists would have taken credit for the lack of global warming, had their extreme measures been implemented.
