Fox News contributor Dr. Marc Siegel said on Tuesday that he prefers constant hand sanitization and washing over wearing gloves for safety purposes during the coronavirus outbreak.
Gloves accumulate germs, gloves accumulate viruses, Siegel told Fox & Friends," responding to a viewer's question about whether wearing gloves at the grocery store is necessary.
Youre going to not even realize when you touch something then you have it on the gloves, then you transfer it to your face, then you can get infected," he explained.
Siegel said that gloves are not necessarily the right answer.
You cant change them enough to make a difference so I vote 'no' on that one. Yes, on the continued hand-washing.

I was just at my regular store and i chit you not i watched a women in line with gloves on and a mask reach under her mask to scratch her nose
I wipe down the gloves with alcohol wipes (94%) when I get to the car. When I get home, I wash with soap and water with the gloves on and then the gloves off.
Then I touch my face. I’M TOUCHING MY FACE!! :)
Damn, now i’m throwing out all my gloves, thanks!
So if you touch an surface with the virus WITHOUT gloves, then it wont transfer to your face?
Wut?
misinformation, as if everyone is too stupid to use masks and gloves. Buy washable mask and gloves, wash them with dishwashing soap, same with hands.
We have 1 case in the county and she is quarantined.
I had not thought of the fact that viruses might actually accumulate on a glove in higher concentrations than on skin.
Totally non-scientific, but my guess is that your hands sweat and thus manage to shed at least some of them, whereas they remain on rubber.
The real issue is touching your face with either a gloved or non-gloved hand.
Disposable gloves are cheap. They also remind you not to touch your face. My wife and I are wearing them when we go to the grocery store. We throw them out as soon as we get to the car.
Same with masks.
Unless we throw them away after a trip to the store, they can have germs on them. Hold them, touch them, put them for next time.
Maybe zap them in the microwave will kill germs.
I use multiple set of gloves when shopping and I use hand sanitzer on them.
I totally concur. I see sadly stupid people, young and old here in Palm Beach County at Walmart and Trader Joes with gloves on, touching the food they put in their cart, then give to the cashier to put in the bags, then with their gloved hands they reach into their purses and touch their wallets and get their debit cards or cash and then grab the bags and walk out. I just shake my head. Totally illogical movements.
So unless they wiped down each item BEFORE putting it in their own bags, or, wipe down each item when they remove it from their bags at home AFTER discarding the gloves and AFTER immediately washing their hands... it’s a waste of time and counter-preventive.
It accumulates on the glove, then they touch themselves.
This is like “duh”! I have a hoard of Isopropyl Alcohol 99.5% pure and carry it around in a spray bottle. If I go anywhere I spray it and let it dry. Gas station nozzles, keypads, countertops, doorknobs, even cash. And I spray it on my hands afterwards. Lately I’ve been refusing coins but spray down paper money.
One little market I go to, the clerk wears gloves. We know each other as I am in there a lot. I told him that the gloves are useless unless he changes them for each customer, and sprays the counter. So I sprayed his gloves and counter and left him a bottle. Then when I got home I sprayed all my items and let them sit until air dry.
Maybe I’m a little nuts. :-)
I wash my hand AND my face.
I predict the CDC will not recommend mask use because of precisely THAT.
Too many morons out there who would not keep them clean.
So Dr Siegel, where are you going to wash your hands in Costco? And you are going to wash them every 5 minutes> There's no hand sanitizer to be found anywhere. So you HAVE to wear gloves.
I'm not impressed at all by this guy that Fox regularly trots out.
And then they sing that song by The Divinyls, right?
People are wearing gloves and then touching their wallets, purses, credit cards, cell phones, steering wheels, etc. with the same pair of gloves on - causing more potential contamination than nothing. It is like they think the gloves in of themselves are immune from getting anything on them vs. bare hands.
Same here..got a box of 200 from Costco last year(Who knew they would be in such good use now) we use them, and throw them out when done that simple
