CDC guidance on masks remains under development, the federal official said. The official said the new guidance would make clear that the general public should not use medical masks — including surgical and N95 masks — that are in desperately short supply and needed by health-care workers.
Instead, the recommendation under consideration calls for using do-it-yourself cloth coverings, according to a second official who shared that thinking on a personal Facebook account. It would be a way to help “flatten the curve,” the official noted.
Such DIY cloth masks would potentially lower the risk that the wearer, if infected, would transmit the virus to other people. Current CDC guidance is that healthy people don’t need masks or face coverings.

I am getting the funny feeling that the CDC never considered what to do if a world wide pandemic should occur.
I get the impression they are making it up as they go along.
If some one infected coughs near you, the air borne droplets will get in through the unprotected eyes.
I had my order in before the order came down, and they allowed my order to go through, but my order was one of the last for masks to be filled, and this occurred well over four weeks ago.
This face is too pretty to cover up.
They were too busy selling vaccines, gun control and probably trans something or other than to do their jobs. Like another freeper said, at some point they dropped the “P” from their acronym.
Under Obama, no doubt. So many of our fed agencies became a joke while he was President.

If The President would have gotten on the dais and said that the general public needs to wear cloth masks and to save the manufactured N-95 and surgical masks for public health, then I belive the nation would have been quite fine with that. \
Yes, there was a shortage, we all knew that. But saying masks help me and not you was the silliest thing uttered in all of this. If they were to come clean today, then I think still...all will be forgiven.
Oh, they know what to do.
But they are so embarrassed about the shortage of N95 masks for the general public, that they lie to us rather than admit that they are useless when it comes to planning for pandemics.
Where does one order these masks from?
WEAPONIZED agencies ALERT! In the republic? YES.
Have they considered the fact that a considerable portion of our society won’t keep these things clean and will accumulate huge concentrations of virus in their masks?
I was talking to a guy from Wuhan a couple of weeks ago. He said they wore masks not to catch the virus but to not transfer it.
