CDC guidance on masks remains under development, the federal official said. The official said the new guidance would make clear that the general public should not use medical masks including surgical and N95 masks that are in desperately short supply and needed by health-care workers.
Instead, the recommendation under consideration calls for using do-it-yourself cloth coverings, according to a second official who shared that thinking on a personal Facebook account. It would be a way to help flatten the curve, the official noted.
Such DIY cloth masks would potentially lower the risk that the wearer, if infected, would transmit the virus to other people. Current CDC guidance is that healthy people dont need masks or face coverings.

Shoulda shot the hacker.
is that 3rd one what I think it is???
Dithering ninnies... What is boils down to is they know wearing the mask probably helps but won’t say it because they want the healthcare community protected first and foremost. When and it that happens you will hear them wail for masks and all these governors will mandate wear a mask!
Been wondering what the dang hold is myself. Healthcare workers, vunerable folks, or anyone being health conscious in unavoidable essentials should not have to struggle for this stuff at all let alone weeks on end during a pandemic.
Have people quit dying from the flu???
We never hear any deaths from the flu anymore....

All coroners got the memo that 99% of all deaths must now be labeled COVID-19 like Italy.
CDC = Credibility Done Cratered
Gloves and masks work fine here and all I ever got was EMT training, an electrical engineering degree, and the ability to read and research. CDC been lying to everyone so they might be able to replace masks THEIR STOCK that were lost BY MEDICAL folks or sold out the back door or detoured to China or .....
I’ve got a home-made one now. I can hide an old surgical mask I have from cancer days, and nobody will know.
Just wander down women’s products row. Two panty liners. One over nose, second one sticks to first and over mouth. If you are really insecure, two sanitary pads. No elastic. No strings. Sticks to your face.
"If you folks know what's good for you, you'll turn over all them rolls of toilet paper in the safe."
But they don’t want to “scare” anyone.
Maybe if they were more concerned with savings lives, they would just tell the truth.
I think I’ll use a broad tipped Sharpie and label mind “AIDS” or “HIV”
Should be good for a laugh and clearing a path.
SURE CDC lets make the shortage on masks start ALL OVER now that things have calmed done a bit BASTARDS!!!
At some point, you have to wonder if it would be better for everyone to become infected and the survivors get on with their lives. Hopefully the survivors would at least have a smaller government.
During the Spanish Flu epidemic, masks for everyone were mandatory. No one was allowed on New York City rail cars without them. They were mandatory in Kansas City and generally everywhere else in populated areas.
I got a text from a friend. She was sitting on the other side of the room.
Here’s the problem: The CDC tells people to wear masks. How to properly put one on, wear it, properly take it off, dispose, wash up. Warns people not to develop a false sense of security while wearing one.
Then some of the public goes and does what some public is wont to do: namely screw up, then blame the CDC.
The CDC apparently decided that it wasn’t worth it to try.
Not the call I would have made, but I’m not a bureaucrat.
Then the politicians won’t be able to hide their false smiles.
CDC considering telling everyone they have no clue what to do.
*************
True but that won’t stop them from asking for more money to continue doing it.
