“We threw French fries from the pan to the bag, added salt and shook it...the bag absorbed the grease.”
Memories of Mom making cake donuts in the deep fryer. When they were done and still hot and oily, we threw them in the paper bag with 10X sugar, and shake, shake, shake. Mmmmm ... melt in your mouth.

Most plastic bags are so thin. They tear easily. The store I shop in had great plastic bags. Sunday they were back using them again. I was thrilled.

And now every where I go I see plastic gloves laying around. Soon to be floating in the oceans where I catch fish. :(

The plastic bags were never the problem. The problem is that people do not dispose of them properly, and they blow around and make their way into streams, rivers, and the ocean.

Irrational Gaia Worshipers interfere in the market and the law of unintended consequences bites us all in the ass as a result. Shocker! Why this has never happened before.

Those grocery store plastic bags also come in handy when its time to clean the cat litter box (be certain to check first if the bag has a hole in the bottom!) Strength/durability top to bottom:
1) Weis Markets
2) CVS
3) Giant
4) WalMart--the absolute worse. Most shred or have holes.

They are the crappiest for kitty litter (no pun intended). We have a local Food City here in TN, and theirs are very strong and good.

If it was paper, I used it for book covers,...
That brings back memories of school back in the mid-50s. In New Orleans, the groceries used to print hurricane tracking charts on the paper bags - which in turn ended up as textbook covers.

My husband and I go walking every day, and the roads and trails are indeed accumulating a lot of gloves and wipes. I’m in no mood to collect trash on the roadside these days. In normal times it would be a Scout service project, but they’re not allowed to gather in person either.
To: ealgeone
One correction to the article....the bags were never free. They’re a cost factored in the price of groceries sold at the store.Right, but probably not a dime each. More like fractions of a cent when you're buying in bulk like a supermarket would.

We threw French fries from the pan to the bag, added salt and shook it...the bag absorbed the grease. Also good for a mat for your guns while you're cleaning them.

he only uses tape because he is a toady for the 3m corporate types pushing the proliferation of sticky products...
he even said the tape was unnecessary.
good job until the tape.

"...My husband and I go walking every day, and the roads and trails are indeed accumulating a lot of gloves and wipes. ..."....... I don't think people realize that this trash could actually be considered hazardous medical waste and should be disposed of in an appropriate manner!!!! People should not be simply walking around picking this stuff up ......
