President Trump on Thursday downplayed the number of ventilators he thinks New York will need in the battle against the coronavirus.
“I have a feeling that a lot of the numbers that are being said in some areas are just bigger than they’re going to be,” Trump said in a call to Fox News’ “Hannity.”
“I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators,” Trump continued. “You know you go into major hospitals sometimes they’ll have two ventilators and now, all of a sudden, they’re saying, ‘Can we order 30,000 ventilators?'”

My friend’s cousin died tonight. A man in his 50’s who lived in Brooklyn. Was admitted to the hospital a couple of days ago, tested positive, and had a heart attack.

U.S. is now number one in the absolute numbers of infected people. Passing Italy and China on Thursday.
They don't. Only a tiny percentage of those infected need ventilators. 80% or more don't even get admitted to hospitals at all. Most get mild symptoms and recover.
No one knows what the real number that Cuomo needs. He failed to make the shelter in place when his numbers were growing. Then he demanded that other states give up what they have for his state, and he said he would give them back after his curve went down. Right now he doesn’t appear to need them.
Except Italy has less than 1/5th the population of the US, and has over ten times the number of deaths.
Plus I am highly suspicious of any figures coming from Andrew Cuomo.
Hard to reason out how China could have fewer infections given they have about 4 times the population of the USA...over a somewhat similar land area...
Wait a minute here! Just what the heck have Cuomo and the NY libs been doing for the last 3.5 years besides preparing their jurisdiction for various potential disasters? You’re not telling me they overlooked all this, are you??
21 million cell phone numbers disappeared in China. I believe their death rate is much higher than they let on...maybe by tenfold.
Cuomo failed to secure a supply of Hydroxychloroquine at the time he implemented his quarantine and thus screwed up development of a workforce that could keep his economy going without being a transmission vector.
The one person who addressed this calmly and thoughtfully has been the Governor of West Virginia.
You might want to note (from 3 weeks ago in Italy) that the average age of an Italian victim (from the virus) was 78.5.
The German average for the victim (from roughly 2 weeks ago) was around 80.
Frankly, they don’t have the staff to handle all of them. Mask, gloves, eye protection, and tyvek first. Ventilators are useless if you sicken and kill off all the trained medical staff. 25 years to teach a physician and then NYC’s practice of killing them in 25 days.
Because you are dealing with populations, the raw numbers mean very little. More meaningful number would be based on per capita or number/thousand in each country or state and so on.

How do you get per capita or number per thousand without using the population of the country ? Which is exactly what I did.
How does that even make sense?
