New York state public health officials established a few years ago established a task force to investigate the lack of ventilators in the state and find a way to remedy the situation.
The task force discovered that were 7,250 ventilators in New York hospitals and about 1,900 in nursing homes – with most of them already in use. Even with the state’s own stockpile, that task force said there was only 2,800 total ventilators available, despite health officials’ warnings that a major outbreak could require 18,600 New Yorkers to be on the machines each week during the crisis’ peak.
Instead of buying the ventilators in 2015, the task force created a priority system for who would be put on a ventilator – red being the most dire, blue being the least – and assigned a triage officer, or “death panel” as Trump said, to make the life-or-death decisions.
"We need the federal help, and we need the federal help now,” Cuomo said. “Deploy the ventilators around the country as they are needed. Different regions have different curbs of the infection. New York is the canary in the coal mine. New York is going first.”

many may remember after 9-11 there was a huge issue on a shortage of masks as well as the wrong masks being worn by those at ground zero in the recovery effort...yet despite this devastating event NYC did nothing to make sure there were enough masks around in the instance of another tragedy- and once again they were left shorthanded...
Trump should supply them with a Trump 2020 sticker on them signed “Thanks Oh Great One” - A, Cuomo.

The only way to avoid this problem was to buy and stockpile ventilators. No one in government did so. They should have foreseen this problem when the SARS epidemic hit. But they did nothing.
Cuomo using the same playbook that the media and democrats used on Bush during Katrina...and that dumbass let them get away with it...

Gov. Coomo has been all over the news the last few weeks. Acting very statesman like in the face of the crisis. All his TV face time is more than a coincidence

This “leak” about NY’s lack of 2015 preparation is the counter to all of Coomo’s campaign points
At the federal level the decision was made to use vendor management rather than stockpiling for PPE, personal protective equipment. This Obama administration.
