The coronavirus pandemic may be fueling a buying frenzy of guns and ammunition nationwide, but a sheriff in California is ordering all gun stores in his county closed, calling them non-essential businesses.

Gun stores nationwide have had long lines this month of customers worried about possible social unrest amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"There’s a lot of unknown. Family first and friends," Brian Thompson told FOX11 earlier this month in a line outside of LAX Ammunition in Los Angeles. "I know what I have in my house and somebody might want to take that. I’ve been robbed before and who says that people aren’t going to start robbing for food? And that’s scary."

-—surprisingly, a 2007 law prevents this from happening in Nevada-—the gun stores are okay to be open but can’t offer training-—

When the businesses that supply firearms and ammunition to the police and sheriff's department stop filling orders for the police departments and sheriff's departments I suspect they will suddenly become "essential" businesses.

Evidently California sheriffs are cut from a different cloth than normal American sheriffs.

In some ways he is right. If these idiots have to wait for a crisis to happen then perhaps they are too stupid to have the right to own a gun.
Just my two cents.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva is the aberration.

Compare to Kern Co Sheriff.

They don’t call it a Civil Defense force, that would imply we need (or perhaps that we deserve) defense. The official name is National Civilian Community Corps.

I think of it as the NatCCC, or more simply, as the NatCs...

This is why you buy any firearm that you might ever want and you buy it long before you need it. The elitists want us disarmed if things get ugly - they are rooting for the looters who will vote to keep the elitists in power over us. Buy guns now (or as soon as the lockdown is lifted). Buy lots of ammo as soon as possible, and keep buying ammo until you have more than you can imagine needing.

While I love in and out burgers, they can’t be considered essential. There’s a line of cars around the block every day. When you pick up your order you notice about 40 employees scurrying around to keep up. Thank you In and out employees. You somehow got a pass on the rules, and your dedication is appreciated.
Guess the “rules committee” like your burgers too.

How long is the shelf life for ammunition? Asking for a friend, since all my guns and ammo were lost in a house fire years ago.

I’ll bet the sheriff thinks it’s essential that his deputies are armed with guns and ammo.
