Local police investigated a small number of reports of non-life-sustaining businesses still operating after Gov. Tom Wolf ordered enforcement of their closures starting at 8 a.m. Monday to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Wolfs order prohibits the physical operations of businesses that the state deems as nonessential to remain open, such as car dealerships and dry cleaners. Some businesses successfully sought waivers to the order after the state was deluged with thousands of requests.
Businesses that can remain open include grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, beer distributors, auto parts stores, bakeries and restaurants offering takeout and delivery.
Residents can report businesses they believe are violating the order to state or local police. Reports should not be made to 911 but to the police departments nonemergency phone number.

Wondering if party affiliation has anything to do with you business being exempt? Bet it does!
Enforcement of WHAT law?
I hear ya. Think about this as well: they are closing “nonessential” businesses and most restaurants are only take out now. Bars are closed. Most events cancelled. Most people out of work and staying home at this time. So the only place where you can go and move about are the grocery stores. So now the people that have no where else to go are in numbers at grocery stores that looks like Black Friday crowds everyday hunting for toilet paper and hand sanitizer. I don’t see any grocery store employee counting off a few people to go into the grocery stores, making others wait in their cars for their turn. What’s the point in shutting down some of these businesses that get far fewer people at one time??
When the rec center was open for the last day one week ago for my early morning workout, it was the same crowd, albeit much sparser. My chances of picking up the virus going into the grocer was considerably greater than it would have been going to the rec center in early morning, judging just by the density of the parking lot.
But who are we to judge when it makes Tommie the Commie feel good? And who is that thing always standing near him? Is it a him or is it a her? If a woman, she's got to be the ugliest dyke on God's green earth!
Wow, you succinctly laid it out. I am retired from the medical field. Worked in surgery half of my career. To be considered sterile, the first scrub of the day in the OR was 20 minutes from your elbows down. That was with povidone iodine or hibiclens. I have noticed people using wipes in grocery stores to wipe down their carts and hands and that’s good. Not sterile but good. But everything else you touch in the store can be considered contaminated.
Our idiot governor (Washington state) gave an address yesterday wherein he announced a state-wide lockdown, closing non-essential business and forcing residents to cower in their basements.
Only problem is he neglected to spell out the details of who, what, & where (forget why - he is clueless!). Later someone released a document outlining what businesses that are considered “essential” but the list has holes you could drive a truck through. This is gonna get real ugly, real fast.
As President Trump said, “Don’t make the cure worse than the problem!”
Our Shop-Rite stopped the 24 hour schedule (I believe they couldn’t restock safely), and this concentrated the crowds in a narrower band. They also ended their “shop-from-home” service, which was picked up at a side entrance. I understand the former, but the latter just put more of their workers at risk. If anything, they should have switched to primarily “shop from home” as much as possible.
How nice of the police to go business to business, and possibly picking up the virus, sharing it by going business to business. How nice. How thoughtful. Why do they think they are immune to spread this?
What would happen if every small business in PA re-opened tomorrow in defiance of der Fuhrers edicts.?
Discuss.
Biker Joe, if your staff gets sick, maybe a splitting can give you the fresh troops. I can only think that what you are responsible to accomplish can not be done by Joe Shmoe off the street. Just an idea.
Party affiliation?
Not in our case. We actually received our exemption yesterday. We are definitely not D’s. We have a notary and tag agency in Chester county.
Don’t worry, this time Trump is gonna shut down the Democrat car dealers! Payback is a b*tch.
Hey criminals! Feel free to ply your trade! GO STEAL! You’ll get away with it. Do what you want. The police are arresting barbers and donut sellers.
It didn’t take much for the thin veneer called “civilization” to be worn away, revealing what’s underneath.
The restaurants tried the curb side service and delivery here, but there was just no business and they just stay closed 24/7 now. I knew it was bad when you could walk by the most popular steak house in town and you couldn't smell any steak cooking at dinner time even though they had a 'open for takeout & delivery' sign out on the sidewalk.
