I hear ya. Think about this as well: they are closing “nonessential” businesses and most restaurants are only take out now. Bars are closed. Most events cancelled. Most people out of work and staying home at this time. So the only place where you can go and move about are the grocery stores. So now the people that have no where else to go are in numbers at grocery stores that looks like Black Friday crowds everyday hunting for toilet paper and hand sanitizer. I don’t see any grocery store employee counting off a few people to go into the grocery stores, making others wait in their cars for their turn. What’s the point in shutting down some of these businesses that get far fewer people at one time??

Exactly! Our local sewage treatment plant has gone to split shifts, with operator crews working half strength on alternate days, supposedly to reduce the possibility of them spreading the infection to each other. Since I'm Vice Chair of our Municipal Authority, which is different from the actual treatment plant, we've been discussing doing the same thing with our office staff (the office is already closed to the public, dropbox for payments and phone for emergencies), to which I replied..."Yeah, but unless they wear gloves in the office and wipe down EVERY piece of equipment they touch (dropbox, fax, printer, etc.) AND they're not going to that giant Petri dish that is our local supermarket...) I told the chairman I just didn't see where a split shift would make a damn bit of difference.)
