I watched and lived through the great Asian Meltdown in 2002-2003 from SARS. HK property values actually fell! The Hang Sang was back up to where it was before the outbreak, or close to it, by the end of 2004.

We bought a flat in Causeway Bay near the bottom of that market.

Bad event, good experience. I had some of my people traveling in SEA at the time. Difficult but no crisis.

The terms a week ago were to try the 15 day plan and see how things go. A week in and things are not looking well but who really knows since testing surges then falls making the data pretty much junk. I suspect the surge in cases is a surge in testing and that we had many more than we think already. So, we don’t know if we are winning or losing except that we have a growing case load.

That said, I can’t see that anyone is paying much attention to the guidelines but a few of us anyway. Just no big assemblies and a national paid holiday. The highway out here is as busy as usual. Maybe more so.

This tweet is either born of desperation or posturing or inability to make a real decision. I’ve been disappointed with just about everything done so far. The boasting about early shut down to China travel has gotten old, over promise and way under deliver on almost everything discussed by the task force. CDC, FDA and NIH are useless. Just coming across as unable to do anything that counts for much but promise.

Going this far then throwing in the towel makes all that has passed just a clown show for nothing.

The President needs to listen more and talk less and when he does talk stay on script or not talk at all. That would save him from looking the fool at least some.
