I think he’s talking about the 15 he requested that people basically have fewer than 5 (at first it was 10) people with whom they have contact. If that’s the case, we are about to start our second week of the 15 days — which should end by next weekend, give or take a day. Our 30 days are supposed to START Tuesday, which is maddening.
He’s done the math.
Having a lot more ventilators on hand in April will make the decision easier.>> true but i think he has done more than that. he has set up the infrastructure to handle some pretty bad scenarios. building hospitals on the west coast and the navy hospital ship on the east with the cruise ships in waiting. but there would be no one to staff most of these operations.

Agreed. We seem to be doing all of this on “what if” worst case scenarios. And there are those who have been telling us for two weeks now that “We need to flatten the curve. It’s going to be worse than Italy if we don’t. There will be hospital beds in corridors, our healthcare system overwhelmed, etc..” but the only thing I see overwhelmed at this point is our economy: panicked shoppers stripping shelves, businesses closed, and people stuck in homes for what MIGHT happen.
A 15 day lockdown will have done absolutely NOTHING. What a waste.
They’ll have to decide whether to keep us all in self-quarantine for a year or let us out to catch the disease.
Exactly. With twice the number of deaths we currently have before declaring it a pandemic. And yet, the media buried news of the climbing numbers of infected and dead. Couldn’t damage the legacy of the first black president, you know.
It’s always a nice thing to be a bit more specific than “our metro area.”

BTW, Trump has stated that after 15 days, this situation needs to be reviewed in light of the economy. So.... have a drink on me.
My son (29) doesn’t want me (69) going out. One of his best buds is also quarantining his dad. We are at a hot hotspot in Silicon Valley.
Not sure why I need to be more specific. It’s happening in every state where there are cases. Shutdowns for 30 days or an indefinite period of time - so far unspecified. Pick your scenario.

A great example of playing telephone. The correct story is about an Israeli doctor in Italy who said they are cutting off people over 60 from ventilation.
It’s up to you, of course. But its nice to get a first-hand pulse on what’s going on around the country on FR. “Our metro” doesn’t help.
My metro is the San Francisco Bay Area, specifically in the south bay on the peninsula near Mountain View. Not far from El Camino Real.
That’s what I’m praying for. Don’t see how governors or mayors can stand by lockdowns without national emergency.
