Agree as to why Italy was hard hit and where it was hit. But I came across some interesting data on Italy's annual death rates. So far in 2020 the countrywide death rate is not much different than what would be forecast. It continues an existing trend dating back many years.
If you look at the data, the jump in growth rates between 2018 and 2019 was greater than 2019 to 2020. And the death rates have been going up continuously for decades as the population ages. Basically, the deaths reputedly caused by the Wutan virus, have not appreciably affected the overall death rate in Italy. More people are dying annually in one of the oldest populations in the world.
There have been stories alleging that the Italians were attributing many of the deaths incorrectly to the virus despite the fact that many of the victims had other underlying causes that could have just as easily killed the person. Reporting of the deaths may be a major reason why Italy is such an anomaly.

Underlying causes THAT THE SINGLE PAYER SYSTEM COULD NOT FIX...
Right as usual.!
Italy has long been touted as having one of the oldest populations in the world. In a report released in September 2016 by Eurostat that compared ages of residents across Europe, Italy was declared as having the highest share of people over 80 years old at 6.5%, with Greece close behind with 6.3%. Weve heard about the wonders of the Mediterranean diet, but is that all there is to it? Why does Italy have such a healthy and resilient population?
The report coincided with the International Day of Older Persons, which falls each year on October 1st. It declared that there are nearly 27 million people aged 80 or older living in the European Union, a number that continues to rise consistently as life expectancy increases across the continent. Interestingly, women account for two-thirds of elderly persons in the European Union, outweighing men in every country. Although life expectancy in Italy falls slightly behind France, Spain and Luxembourg, it is above the EU average. In terms of proportion of people aged over 80, however, Italy ranks as first followed closely by Greece with a total of nearly 4 million elderly persons counted in January 2015. In fact, the number of centenarians, or people aged 100-plus, has tripled in the past 15 years (83% of which are women).
This would not be a surprise as Italy is and has been run by Socialists / Commie with a very few exceptions since WWII. And these are descendants/followers in kind of Benito Mussolini who was a Fantasist - or the Italian version of Dictator for the 1930s
Is there a source for comparing the number of deaths in Italy, especially by age group, for winter 2020 and a few recent years? That would help see if many of the deaths attributed to the C virus are actually within the normal number of deaths.
