A widely shared claim that started circulating through text messages and social media said President Donald Trump would allegedly order a two-week mandatory nationwide quarantine through the Stafford Act within 48 to 72 hours. The claim also encourages people to “stock up” on supplies and invites users to resend the message with their community. Many of the texts say the information was shared by “military friends” in Washington D.C.
Most of the posts on social media featured a screenshot of a text message or plain text that reads:
“Please be advised, within 48 to 72 hours the president will evoke what is called the Stafford Act. Just got off the phone with some of my military friends up in DC who just got out of a two hour briefing. The President will order a two week mandatory quarantine for the nation. Stock up on whatever you guys need to make supply of everything. Please forward to your network. Note: my military friend just sent me the above text.”
This claim is false. On March 15, 2020 the National Security Council (NSC) confirmed on Twitter that these “text message rumors of a national quarantine” are fake( here ). President Trump did invoke the so-called Stafford Act. However, this law has nothing to do with mandating a quarantine but instead allows for the unlocking of federal funding for disaster relief.

This time, the stores are prepared and quantity buys are being limited. But, that will only work if the population remains civilized.

This is why people are hoarding toilet paper and other items. They think a mandatory quarantine is coming.

As of earlier today, that includes Walmart stores in regards to toilet paper, so shoppers, behave!

The National Guard has absolutely no resources to clamp down the interior.
They also have very inferior weapons training.
Noticeably, none of the social media posts claiming Trump made this statement included a video clip or other proof he said it, and that’s because THERE WAS NONE TO SHOW. There's no evidence that Trump said this during any recent public announcements about the coronavirus disease.
But there it is with a grinning Trump picture where he's looking stupid.

If President Trump feels it necessary to order a nationwide shutdown for a few weeks, he'll do it and if he doesn't, he won't. IMO he will sometime this month or in early April. Right now it looks like he'll order it early next week.
I saw that quote on Twitter attributed to Biden. It's plausible that Biden might say that.
I also saw the tweet that President Trump is going to declare mandatory quarantine next Monday. Someone is trying to start a panic.

Right. Of course it is possible that there will be a quarantine order, but tweets like that serve no purpose other than to try to stoke fear and start a panic.
