The Trump administration, moving quickly to halt the spread of the coronavirus, is seriously considering grounding all passenger air traffic for up to 30 days, temporarily halting stock trading on Wall Street, and imposing a shelter-in-place rule, according to officials.
Key officials have begun alerting industry leaders, Capitol Hill, and agencies that the “radical” plan could come early next week if the warlike efforts to stop the spread of the virus fail.
On Thursday, the administration began to prepare the nation for 9/11-style moves when the State Department issued a “Level Four” warning against traveling overseas. The warning is the most severe that the department has.
In a notice, the State Department said Americans traveling abroad may find their travel “severely disrupted” and “may be forced to remain outside of the United States for an indefinite time frame.”

The press started this panic and quickly lost control. The Dems followed sensing a chance to attack Trump and it has now gained a momentum all its own.

I think current law = that Fed. legislators are NOT subject to the insider trading law.
That’s one reason they and the lobbyists are joined at the hip. They get inside info and can then support legislation to help XYZ corp. and build their own wealth.

We need to break the back of corruption in office just like the corona virus and understand that public servant means what it says.
Every Congress person should need to disclose all assets when coming into their elected office, and then every subsequent year just like a special income tax. Fraud would result in 2 years imprisonment for every year in office. They need to be subject to random forensic asset deep dives.

SARS-1 erupted in November 2002, peaked around May and went away by July 2003.
Covid is really SARS-2, 86% the same virus. It’s not as lethal but it’s 10 times as infectious. If infections peak in May this pandemic could be over by July.
The infectious nature of this thing is absolutely terrifying.
If they force folks to stay in their homes, then what are they supposed to do with the $1,200 checks they plan to send out ? Put mayo on them and eat them ?
The rate of infection is the reason for all the panic by authorities.
Covid is not more lethal than SARS-1 and some flus, but what it can do is make a huge number of people very sick all at once. That makes healthcare systems collapse and people who otherwise could be saved will die.
This experience will have brought some benefit if we return drug and medical manufacturing back to the US; having became reliant on China for all of that is dangerously stupid if not criminal.

Yes it seems PA went overkill. In Harris County TX (Houston & outlying areas) my husband found out his co. would be considered “essential” good news if they can’t seem to get the trials going fast enough for the already known cure
