Um, coronaviri were first discovered in the 1960s, isolated from a couple patients that had the common cold (15% of the colds are caused by a coronavirus).

And it was given that name because, when viewed under a microscope, it looks like it has a halo or a 'corona', around the body of the virus.

Many of the other recent pandemics were given geographical names. Why did the sexy name for this one get used, and not “China” flu, or “Wuhan” flu?
