As the number of cases has expanded, the mortality rate has declined. It will likely decline even further if and when those without symptoms can be diagnosed and counted.

US #CoronaVirusDeathRate by date:

4.06% March 8 (22 deaths of 541 cases)

3.69% March 9 (26 of 704)

3.01% March 10 (30 of 994)

2.95% March 11 (38 of 1,295)

2.52% March 12 (42 of 1,695)

2.27% March 13 (49 of 2,247)

1.93% March 14 (57 of 2,954)

Did we stop making them?

Get some Vets together to rig something up. If they can’t make the stuff that’s needed there are Cuban expats who can.

As expected. Because only the old and infirm are dying. The old and infirm will get this virus, and it is pretty much only a matter of time.
The rest of us will get it, get sick and recover. The hyperbole is mentally retarded.

Well, there is never a reason to panic.

You guys toss these words around as if you are actually seeing panic. My guess I’d if you have, you would not characterize the general condition as panic or hysteria.

Normalcy bias is alive and well here. It’s just as dangerous as panic.

More than enough demographic information on the at risk th have constructed a targeted response.

Why wasn’t that done???

CPAP machines can work in a crunch and there are a million of them. Currently there are 60 patients in serious condition. And this is growing by a few a day.

You take WA cases (21 deaths out of 333,000,000 people) out of the equation and the mortality rate in the US is currently at .58%.

There are over 90 pharmaceutical companies working on a cure and vaccine, several are showing great progress (not factored into the death rate), Favilavir, Remdesivir, Actemra, REGN3048-3051, blood transfusions from survivors, etc.

The rate will even sink further. Also, those who say a vaccine is 18 months away, must have forgotten that Swine flu speed.

Initial Phase I human testing began with Novartis’ MF59 candidate in July 2009 and as of 19 November 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that 65 million doses of vaccine had been administered.

To keep things in perspective, 2 months into the
H1N1 (Swine Flu) pandemic, 1,000 Americans had already died.

Did you see the media melting down when Obama was there?

The media is trying to hurt the economy so that President Trump does not get reelected.

The only real threat is shutting down business and panic buying. That is the real threat.

Remember that the number of new cases may not be new at all. Just confirmed. There is a problem here with reported cases that may not be confirmed with those that are confirmed to those that are not reported. I wouldn’t doubt that I already had this virus this November because I had the worst upper respiratory issue I have ever had. It would not go away for at least 6 weeks. Went to the doctor, he sent me for a chest xray and basically said - ride it out - no meds or anything else. It was annoying, I rode it out and it cleared up.

“False numbers. If you keep adding to the total with new infections it will always look like a low number.”

Just like a pyramid scheme...and just like any other pyramid scheme, this one will also collapse in the end.

Also remember that the “recovered” patients often are left with 20 to 30% less lung function.

Unfortunately, I have good reason to believe that is correct.

While I have no problems now, I suffered from asthma for about 20 years (up until about 25 years ago). I have not forgotten the awfulness of not being able to breathe & have a near pathological fear of ever experiencing that again.

The H1N1 flu is the return of the Spanish flu. There was significant herd immunity to that flu.

While it killed a significant number, it was never going to make the “world” sick again.

The is a novel virus, the likes of which there is no known antigens in a healthy population.

I am not suggesting mass deaths. I am not saying you are wrong. I am just putting the facts out there. Facts are good things. We aren’t all going to die.

All along, I’ve been “preaching” that this would have an economic and cultural impact on the nation. So far...I have been right.

But no one “sees” that. If you are not a “denier” you are assumed to be panicking and in on the hoax to kill Trump.

The simple minds on FR are amazing. The denier side ignores the entire spectrum of facts: they focus on death rates, and don’t consider any other impacts.

They are fools who cannot see to the end of their driveway.

Exactly. But these doctors and nurses didn’t sign up for battlefield medicine. Human nature being what it is, those docs and nurses who sign up for battlefield medicine are steeled for it and know what’s coming. I sincerely doubt that those who have been in a clean hospital their entire careers with supplies always plentiful are psychologically prepared for this.

We need to keep retired folks - most are elderly - out of heavy contact with the rest of society. Same with those who have serious lung or heart issues already. The rest of us, and I’m past 60, need to keep living our lives.

I’m more likely to be killed in a car crash than by coronavirus. And 900,000 Americans will die this year from abortion. I don’t see Democrats worrying about that!

Suppose 500,000 Americans died from coronavirus this year. That would be vastly more than died in China. It also would be 0.15% of our population. 99.85% would still be alive even if our death rate greatly exceeded China’s!

They are very nice--and intelligent--but they think in terms of the European left.

When I arrived at their home Friday, I could tell that they were panic stricken.

I said to the woman, "You're upset. I think you're worried about the coronavirus."

She replied, "I think it's something to worry about."

Then she launched into a diatribe.

I pointed out that by halting immigration from China, President Trump saved America from the fate of Italy.

My calm, relaxed point of view relaxed her to some extent, but as I was leaving, she became frightened again.

literally everyone expects the death rate to come down as more testing and cases arrive.

But...it's NOT ABOUT the death rate.

“President Trump needs to recognize the hysteria in the media is to hurt the economy and prevent President Trump from being reelected.”

Totally agree. This is singularly to take him down. Thank GOD he’s a fighter. I’m sure he’s waiting for some of this hysteria to die down but he better come out sooner than later, swinging.
