Now that the number of new people infected with the coronavirus in China is slowing, the country's Communist Party is ratcheting up threats against the West, with a particularly nasty warning about access to life-saving drugs aimed at the United States.
In an article in Xinhua, the state-run media agency that's largely considered the mouthpiece of the party, Beijing bragged about its handling of COVID-19, a virus that originated in Wuhan and has spread quickly around the world, killing nearly 5,000 people and infecting thousands more. The article also claimed that China could impose pharmaceutical export controls which would plunge America into "the mighty sea of coronavirus."

For good.
We know what you did. Your own people know what you did. Europe knows what you did.
God knows what you did.
Enjoy your slide back down to poor peasant country you were.”
Every time I see that tag “made in China” I think of the virus.
And say not just NO, but Oh H3ll NO!!
300%?
The little commie bastards created this monster, let it loose, and now they want to play games???
Make the tariffs upwards of 700%. Anything they desperately need from us, we jack it up through the roof.
And in the meantime, we’ll make the vaccines for ourselves.
Say hello to American Capitalism, commie pukes.
" CBS News has confirmed that the State Department hauled in the Chinese ambassador for claims the foreign ministry made that the coronavirus may have originated with the US military."
......... interesting
Go ahead China. That is great news!
we need to ween ourselves off of career politicians.
WELL, ALL HAIL YOU ... yea it trumps fault right? he’s done nothing but twittle his thumbs and golf on his honeymoon first term. YOU REVEAL YOURSELF AS AN ARROGANT TRUMP HATER go back to DU
China hasn’t understood the ultimate lesson of capitalism. Don’t f*ck the consumer...
Hear, hear!
LOL: true!
Their economy appears to have been substantially affected by the Wuhan virus. Apparently that wasn’t a LARGE enough of an impact to cause a revolution, or maybe it may actually require something more than just an economic impact, right?
And if we cut them off abruptly, we the people would suffer.
I would be thrilled if we could completely do that because they are constantly treating us like a first class enemy, but the result might be that we still end up getting supplies from them indirectly through a 3rd party - and said 3rd party would just obscure the original source (i.e. we wouldn’t know it’s actually from them) - at even higher prices. There’s a saying about the enemy getting a vote.
China has a LOT of people, many of whom are highly skilled - those real facts give them influence in trade. And they have a LOT of technology from us, some stolen, some we gave away or even sold to them freely.
Americans might eventually forget this “blip” and begin to question why we pay such high prices when other countries just buy from China. I wish that with our expertise in robotics that we could leverage our labor supply even more effectively to bring more manufacturing back, but I don’t see that happening.
Also, to gain access to the Chinese market - and their billions of buyers - many corporations seem incentivized to set up shop over there for that reason alone. **cough** **cough** Apple? Tesla? **cough**
I’m not sure what we can actually do about it: what are your thoughts?
Why don’t you prove it, and then sue them at law?
Reparations are generally unwise and usually infeasible anyway.
good point, they remind me of the ancient Roman Senate, weasles all, and we swoon when they throw us a little bone , like when they finally relunctantly peep out a weak whimper of defense about FISA abuse or injustice against Trump oir kavanaugh, its disgusting
LOL that got my first laugh of the day and my vote for Post of the day
An executive order would last...what...maybe four years before it is rescinded by a Democrat President? Or a maybe even a Republican?
I’m not sure that the U.S. government actually purchases the highest percentage of medical products - there are probably more regular citizens purchasing. And it sounds to me like the company CEOs made those decisions, anyway, not the consumer. We stand for freedom - so in a sense, who are we to stand in the way of a CEO’s right do make those kinds of decisions? (I believe that regulation is required.)
The best suggestion I’ve seen so far is what President Trump has already done to a large extent - which is tariffs. And he was vilified by some for doing so.
Thoughtful points: thank you!
We need to tariff China, except for medical goods, at 25%, enact a scaled-down TPP (excluding all the globalist, environ-MENTAL, open-borders gobbledygook) - we’re not the only country threatened by China - and give drug companies incentives to produce in the US. We should be done with these evil bastards as soon as possible - their leaders can eat WuFlu-infested poop, for all I care.
Hear, hear!
Notice how few refer to it as the Wuhan virus from China - choosing instead to call is COVID-19? Afraid they might upset their politically correct friends, when we already call some diseases the West Nile virus, the Marsberg virus and so on?
I do not want the Federal government to crush our State and local governments. Instead, why not find some other local government that is WILLING and reward THEM? Please be careful what you wish for, for you might get it.
LOL, he’s a real comedian, but a blind one.
