The Virus and Leadership Trump’s main opponent isn’t Joe Biden. It’s the coronavirus.
Wall Street Journal ^ | March 11, 2020 | WSJ Editorial Board

When President Trump sees a political threat, his instinct is to deny, double down and hit back. That has often been politically effective, but in the case of the novel coronavirus it has undermined his ability to lead.

It’s not accurate, as the press reported last week, that the President called the virus a “hoax.” He said the criticisms of his Administration were a hoax. Yet his public remarks too often continue to give the impression that he views the virus more as another chance for political combat than as a serious public-health problem.

White House advisers last week said the virus is being “contained” despite contrary evidence. On Monday, after suggesting “fake news” was driving the stock-market rout, the President tweeted: “So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!”

Like the common flu, except the death rate from the virus may be ten times higher. Like the common flu, except the U.S. population has no built-up immunity, so the virus left unchecked could infect a significantly higher share of the population at a faster rate, overwhelming the medical system.

We hope the dire coronavirus prognostications turn out not to pass, and no one knows how the coming months will play out. Yet with stock markets falling, schools canceling classes, companies emptying their offices, and nations locking down borders and some cities, Americans want steady leadership.

The biggest failure so far has been on testing when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention produced contaminated test kits and the Food and Drug Administration was slow to approve private alternatives.

Complete BS! Less then 5000 people world wide with pre existing conditions have died over a couple of months. How many of them would have died anyway? That does not even come close to numbers for the swine flu.

So does the WSJ think the Coronavirus can beat Joe Biden for the Democrat nomination, or will it run as a third party candidate? LOL

This coronavirus thing will have to really ramp up and stay ramped up to hurt trump. And it is possible that it might. But, then again, people will have to ask them self if it would have been handled better by Biden.

I think a lot of people know when a president is responsible for the pain, and when we may have pain, but it would have been worse if he had not been in charge.

And this is not a US problem. It is very international.

No one is going to elect a demented person to be president in a crisis. Joe Biden doesn’t have a chance. Democrats positioning themselves to make their success off the sickness and death of Americans who are sick with a virus that no one in the world could stop are sick individuals themselves.

There it is, Coronovirus for president! Time to put your ballots to vote either Trump or for the Coronovirus.

The President did not call the virus a hoax. He called the Dems bitching about it a hoax. Due to this brazen lie, there is no point in reading anything further in that editorial.

Bingo. The Democrats have absolutely NO candidate who inspires confidence in a crisis. The voter will choose Trump by default.

More proof that cancelling my subscription to the WSJ over a decade ago was a wise decision.

We have two neighbors, who are retired health care professionals.

They still get for free a WSJ delivered to their driveway and to the current owners of their former professional offices.

Wonder how many of WSJ’s so called subscriptions fall into the above?

Can always count on Big Media for the biggest lie to be in its first sentence.

Trump’s (and America’s) main enemy is the Leftist Press, Academia & Quasi-governmental organization full bore panic inducement efforts.

The Left would rather trash the World economy than allow another four years of PJT!

“The President did not call the virus a hoax. He called the Dems bitching about it a hoax.”

That’s what the article said.

WuFlu is not a challenge to the President.

The pinkos who run the so-called “news” media are the challenge

There are plenty of too many FReepers on these threads continuing to spread that same lie. 'cui bono' How to implement ‘cui bono’: To implement the principle of ‘cui bono’, you need to ask yourself “who benefits from this?” when trying to figure out why a certain event has happened or will happen in the future. The more someone benefits from the event in question, the more likely they are to be responsible for it.

Coronavirus is the media’s answer to the incredibly weak democrat election roster. Let’s face it, they can’t allow an election to take place where they, and the rest of their democrat cohorts, have to hold their noses when they mark their ballot against Trump.
