As long as they don’t steal over $900 it is a punishment free crime. If the cops do appear, the most that MAY happen is that they are forced to give the stuff back and get a citation. I say MAY because if they just ignore the cops there is little that can be done.

Around every big box store you will now find “homeless” camps. When they (the “homeless”) want something they just walk in and take it.

Believe it our not this was not a law the legislature passed although I am sure they are the ones that put it on the ballot. No, it was voted in by Californians.

I read that it was anything under $950. Not that long ago in CA, a shoplifter who admitted to the cop that they’d entered the store with the “intent” to steal something could be charged with burglary - a felony far more serious than misdemeanor shoplifting/theft.

Geez I wonder if it’s worth the price of a ticket to CA to lighten the inventory of a bunch of high end stores?

“For a SF vibe in a cleaner city try Vancouver CDA and Victoria Island in the late spring and summer.”

Try Hackensack NJ in the Fall..really it’s very nice...what?

It’s all fun and games until people see that to stop it they’ll need to DIY, or hire out, making the thieves disappear...

Close and lock the doors. Shoot anyone who is not an employee. God, I love being king.

Whaddaya mean “allowed”?
Self-defense is a God-given, inalienable right.

The government isn’t allowed to take it away.

That would be ‘racist’ and discriminatory against minorities, women, children, and the homeless.

How the promoters of Prop 47 didn’t see this coming is difficult to imagine. Walk into any store and look around. You get $949 worth of stuff for free by grabbing it and walking out with it. If nobody stops you - and nobody will even try because they risk an assault charge if they do - you get to keep it. You can do this as many times as you want. At the same store if you want. And somebody thought this was a good idea.

OK Starting with white people only. When you enter the store you give them $100 cash or run card. When you come to the door they give you change back if any?

You can put that in the bank and live off the interest.

Okay.

In either case, those three Schiff-birds would be put on ice were they to try that stuff in my neighborhood.

circa 1988, I was in south Chicago near the Midway and U of C. Went for ribs and a soda. The liquor store was divided into 3 sections ceiling to floor rod iron bars. They buzzed you from section to section.

Used to be a Louisiana Fried chicken Western and 91 in LA The kitchen and cashier were behind a sold metal wall. There was a slot for eyes and a sliding metal drawer to give money to the cashier and pick up your order.

Looking forward to those in San Diego County.

No Honeymoon in San Francisco for our 25th. Let’s go to Bora Bora instead!
..................................................
Having been to Bora Bora, I will offer some advice: Don’t go there, because that supposedly idyllic paradise of an island is nothing of the kind!

All you can do in most chain retail stores is watch. Corporate is afraid of getting sued for accusing shoplifters of shoplifting, so they coach their employees to let it go. Shoplifters know this, and just walk in and steal. They aren’t even in a hurry since nobody is going to stop them.
