“Yeah - I voted for Byrne also.”

I never (at least on FR) heard anyone say anything bad about Byrne. His voting record seemed conservative enough.

Why didn’t he make the runoff? Was it because there were bigger names on the ballot - Tuberville and Sessions?

Or was there some other reason?

Name recognition had a lot to do with it. Byrne is highly respected in south Alabama, but not as well known up north. I believe he is truly conservative and would have made a good senator.

Simple reason— he lacked the STATEWIDE name recognition that Sessions and Tuberville have.
