Something You Don't See Often: California Gov Has Nothing But Praise For Trump Administration on Wuhan Virus Cruise Ship Response

While there are plenty of critics of President Trump’s handling of the Wuhan virus, one person who is not complaining is progressive California Gov. Gavin Newsom—and that should be telling.

Speaking to reporters about the administration's cruise ship response, Newsom said Trump delivered on all of his promises to him during a private phone call to help California, which is in a state of emergency over the virus.

"We had a private conversation, but he said, 'We're gonna do the right thing' and 'You have my support, all of our support, logistically and otherwise,'" Newsom said at a news conference.

"He said everything I could have hoped for," the governor asserted. "And we had a very long conversation and every single thing he said, they followed through on.”

He went on to note that the support he’s received from Trump and Vice President Mike Pence has been “consistent with the expectation that we’d repatriate these passengers and we’d do it in a way that does justice to the spirit that defines the best of our country and the state of California."

That awkward moment when a liberal Governor shatters the narrative that @realDonaldTrump isn’t dealing with #coronavirus . https://twitter.com/abc/status/1236959949080625152 …

California Gov. Newsom had kind words for Pres. Trump and Vice Pres. Pence when asked about the administration's handling of coronavirus and cruise ships:

The comments below the tweet were filled with messages noting how refreshing it was that leaders from opposing sides could work together on an issue, and that the media would actually cover it positively.

Trump and Newsom have had a history of battling each other in wars of words and lawsuits, ranging from water rules, fracking, and homelessness to immigration issues.

Yep, sounds like it to me. Mr. Newsom needs Federal dollars, so he has to play nice for a while ( as much as he hates doing it inside ).

Rare praise, indeed. Though, if someone like Gavin Newsom is praising the plan itself, I wonder if that means we’re gonna end up with released infected people running around creating new victims. Been burned a coupla times on the cruise ship thing.

I may need an EEG exam to see if I have a logic problem!

the California ruling elite is a family dynasty just like in many other dictatorships in history (and Governor Newsom is Pelosi’s nephew), se:

i am no Newsom fan - want him recalled - but Cali has been doing heavy lifting in this whole virus affair - coordinating and handling logistics on monitoring of thousands of incoming passengers (at one time there were 8000+ monitored, many quarantined), the Diamond Princess passengers, Grand Princess evacuation......he was doing this before federal dollars got passed last week. and since a lot of this is to contain transmission of the virus, he / Cali are doing a good thing for the nation. Cali and similar processing states deserve recognition and reimbursement from the other states.

We are not “Cali”. It is either “CA” or “Cal” or full-name “California”. Oooooh, how this just twists my livers to no end when people say “Cali”.

Or, you could say “NorCal” for northern California, “The Valley” for central California, or “SoCal” ( where I am ) for southern California.

Exactly.

Our state's ass is exposed by the Sanctuary Cities, and Newsom
knows what's coming.

He's been put on notice. Sure changed his tune didn't it.
