I worked for a born again Christian woman who didn’t believe in health insurance because God will cure what he thinks needs to be cured. Then her son-in-law got sick. He got real good care really quick.

Matthew 17:20 NIV

...”Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

The catch is... the strength of your faith.

If these peoples’ faith is strong enough AND it is God’s will, they WILL be spared disease.

Myself, I like to think of my faith as being strong, but apparently not as strong as those people.

I love my church and enjoy it very much but my pastor and the choir director are not too bright about the flu and flu season. The regular flu ravaged the local schools last month causing week closings because there were no subs for the sick teachers and in some cases only two kids in the classrooms.

In late January on a Saturday night I told my wife and Mom you know it wouldn’t surprise me that the pastor or choir director have fellowship during the service. After a song they will tell you to shake hands with those around you at times and it may go on for 5-10 minutes. Sure enough the next morning, lets have fellowship, having not had it since early fall. Two weeks later same thing. Each time my wife walked out to a side area and my daughter took her toddler our as well to avoid possible contagions. One little old lady attends late spring through early fall like clock work, come flu season you won’t see her because of the handshaking, she was an old army nurse.

Well yesterday the pastor decides lets shake hands and everyone just looked at one another, rather stunned as he said we’re not afraid of a virus, he found out real quick the congregation wasn’t into tempting God. Most just turned around and nodded and spoke to the person next to them, lasted all of one minute. Sometimes people just don’t use their noggins.
