Civil rights activist Jesse Jackson endorses Sanders

Civil rights activist Rev. Jesse Jackson has endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for president, the campaign announced Sunday.

"A people far behind cannot catch up choosing the most moderate path," Jackson said in a statement. "The most progressive social and economic path gives us the best chance to catch up and Senator Bernie Sanders represents the most progressive path. That's why I choose to endorse him today."

Jackson said Vice President Joe Biden's campaign had not reached out or asked for his endorsement.

Jackson said the Vermont progressive answered the concerns of the black community in his support of voting rights and renewing the U.S. Civil Rights Commission. The civil rights leader plans to speak at a campaign event in Grand Rapids, Mich., Sunday.

He said the "black firewall" has changed the dynamics of the election, and campaigns need to appeal to the black community.

Joe Biden’s campaign had not reached out or asked for his endorsement.

The only part of the article worth reading.

Biden’s staff is running a terrible campaign, a la Mook and Podesta in 2016 and not like Axelrod in 2008. Biden’s staff is taking not just JJ, but all the Black vote for granted. Clybourn is right. Biden’s campaign is terrible.

He also got Jane Fonda, so that should secure the Hanoi vote.

Yeah, blacks have been following Jesse and Al's lead for decades and look where it's got them. The definition of insanity is doing exactly the same thing over and over, but expecting a different result. I sure hope blacks look at their current unemployment rates and compare them to previous Democrat administrations and vote accordingly. Democrats have held blacks back by making them dependent. I sure hope they make the comparison and vote accordingly.

Jackson endorses communism. It doesn’t get any more transparent than that.

Jesse Jackson is probably the single most influential black pol in America today. This basically erases Clyburn’s endorsement of Biden, and then some. Jackson literally washed his hands in MLK’s blood when King was assassinated.

Thank heavens that Jesse Jackoffson has finally told me who to vote for in this election! Unfortunately, for JJ, I’m still voting for President Trump.

Jackson's 78. I doubt it's about money any more. He was also the most left-wing candidate when he ran for president in 84 and 88. If he had endorsed Biden, no question he'd been paid off by Biden's plutocratic sponsors. Whereas liberal plutocrats uniformly *hate* Sanders with the heat of a thousand suns. Why? This:

Sanders’s wealth tax would begin with a 1 percent tax on net worth above $32 million (for a married couple), rising to 2 percent once net worth reaches $50 million. The tax continues to increase with income, so net worth between $250 and $500 million is taxed at 3 percent, $500 million to $1 billion at 4 percent, $1 to $2.5 billion at 5 percent, $2.5 to $5 billion at 6 percent, $5 to $10 billion at 7 percent, and all wealth above $10 billion at 8 percent. For non-married filers, the extreme wealth tax brackets would be halved, avoiding marriage penalties (e.g. $50 to $250 million for a married couple would be $25 to $125 million for a single filer).

Net Worth Extreme Wealth Tax Rate
$32-50 million 1%
$50-$250 million 2%
$250-$500 million 3%
$500 million-$1 billion 4%
$1-$2.5 billion 5%
$2.5-$5 billion 6%
$5 to $10 billion 7%
Above $10 billion 8%
For instance, if Sanders won and got his wealth tax passed, Bloomberg would have to pay $4.8b in taxes out of his $60b fortune in 2021 alone. Liberal Democrats love virtue signaling. Paying taxes, not so much.

Sanders isn't getting funding from liberal plutocrats - it's small dollar grassroots money all the way.
