A Georgia Republican lawmaker has introduced a bill that would make child transgender surgeries and drugs illegal.
On February 27, Georgia State Rep. Ginny Ehrhart (R) introduced the Vulnerable Child Protection Act (HB 1060) in the Georgia House of Representatives.
The legislation would ban health care professionals from performing transgender surgeries on a minor child – such as mastectomy, vaginoplasty, castration, penectomy, etc. – “for the purpose of attempting to affirm the minor’s perception of such minor’s sex, if that perception is inconsistent with such minor’s sex.”
In addition, the bill would make illegal the administering of medications, such as puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones, to children for the same purpose.
“This form of child abuse is becoming a serious problem in Georgia and is evolving into a national crisis,” Ehrhart told the local CBS affiliate about her bill in October. She added:
We are talking about children who have not reached the legal age of consent yet are being subjected to life-altering, irreversible surgeries and drug treatments that render them sterile and permanently disfigured. The psychological damage this does to innocent children must come to an end. This legislation makes such abusive actions criminal.
Vernadette Broyles, president and general counsel of the Child and Parental Rights Campaign (CPRC), told Breitbart News in an interview the bill was partly modeled after one that came close to passing in South Dakota.
Broyles’ nonprofit, public interest law firm, one she founded to defend the rights of parents to protect their children from the harms of gender ideology, was involved in the drafting of the bill.
“Tremendous amounts of research went into this bill,” she said. “Medical, scientific research, and it was vetted by a variety of doctors and specialists.”

Well this is refreshing news!! Used to be if a boy of 12 or 13 was feeling girlish, he was given male hormones or told just to wait it out. Same with girls, remember the term “late bloomer”? It should be considered child abuse and the doctors need to “practice” something else.

I live in rural NH, and my second grader grand daughter told me about a boy (last year) now comes to school this year wearing girls clothes about half the time. I was horrified that parents could do such things to a second grader without being charged with child abuse. My bet is that these parents are the toast of their liberal friends network and it is done so the parents can say they are “woke” and whatnot, but in reality, it’s virtue signaling at its lowest level. When did gender identity come to be part of a parent’s non-consensual jurisdiction? How can this be justified on anyone less than 18 is beyond me.
Came close to passing? WTF were they thinking in South Dakota? When we were more moral this would've passed overwhelmingly with even most Democrats supporting it.
There are disorders called body dismorphic and body integrity identity. In the former the person sees a part of themselves as deformed or ugly, while in the latter they believe a part of their body does not belong to them. These disorders are either caused by psychological issues or a brain mapping issue. Regardless of the case feeding the delusion is not the answer.

Introducing a bill in GA and getting a bill passed in GA are two very different things. This bill has not even been assigned to a committee yet and when this legislature ends later this month or in April, all bill die too as it is the last of the 2 year cycle. Georgia’s government is not nearly as conservative as our neighbors.

Yep. I’ve never watched the awful show, but the previews for I Am Jazz are cringeworthy. His parents and “doctors” should be arrested for child abuse. That poor kid is miserable.
Never underestimate the optics the left can gather to support their causes.
