NEW YORK (AP) In just over 100 days, Mike Bloomberg spent over $500 million of his own fortune in a quixotic bid for the presidency that collapsed in stunning fashion on Super Tuesday, when he won just one U.S. territory, American Samoa.
By Wednesday morning, he quit the race and endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden, saying his continued presence in the rapidly shrinking field would make it harder for the party to defeat President Donald Trump in November, his ultimate priority. The businessman, worth an estimated $61 billion, pledged to keep spending to defeat Trump.

Bloomberg was in it to normalize trade with China. That’s why his candidacy seemed messageless.

Spending all those hundreds of million$ on intrusive, annoying YouTube and Facebook ads tends to have a negative affect. If anything, that anti-Trump ad blitz actually helped Trump.
So, spend away, mini-Mike... and thank you for supporting the Trump economy!
Nanny Bloomers just like Eye Sty are just lefty billionaires who were simply jealous of The Donald for upstaging them. Two sanctimonious pricks is how I see them flaunting their $$ around for influencing voters. Thank God President Trump isnt cut from the same cloth as those 2 jerks.
Could he have purchased Samoa for that money?
Trumps foreign policy must be costing Bloomberg a crapload of money in China.
A couple of Russian Facebook ads blamed on Trump caused Hillary to get defeated and the results of 2016 declared tainted.
Mini-Mike spent over $1B. You couldn’t turn a TV on the past few weeks without seeing a Bloomberg ad and he went absolutely nowhere.
Those Russians must be really clever. /s
BACKSTORY 'Tavern on the Green' is a storied restaurant in NY's Central Park since 1934, a destination eatery frequented by celebs.
Then it fell on hard times. In January 2011, then-real estate developer Donald Trump said he obtained an agreement from the union employees and that he would invest $20 million in the restaurant, including rebuilding the Crystal Room, if he were granted a 20-year lease. He said he would keep the Tavern on the Green name. "I don't think every place needs to be called Trump," he joked.
Then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Central Park Conservancy which manages the property did not respond to Trump's proposal.
Instead the lucrative deal went to a man married to the sister of one of Bloomberg's business employees.
Some 4 dozen politicians/presidential wannabes (2016-2020) have tried to defeat Trump — and they all FAILED.
