A person in San Antonio, Texas, who had previously tested negative twice for the coronavirus, and was released by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is now back in quarantine after a subsequent test came back positive.

The individual, who was evacuated from Wuhan, China, to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio on a flight chartered by the State Department was released from the Texas Center for Infectious Disease, according to San Antonio's Mayor.

Interesting....supposedly quarantined, tested twice (negative) then released. Subsequently tested positive.

It seems there is more to this story than what is being reported by the Democrat Mayor and CNN

They take these people in and they get paid by the government to do so. That’s their main concern. The dough.

They do not know what they are doing nor do they really care. As evidenced

I thought that patients would have to be tested three times with negative results before being released?

The mayor sounds pissed off in the article.

The entire state of California had 200 test kits available. With no supply, how can you test everyone 3 times, much less once?

It isn’t likely the virus has a stealth mode. But, there is a likelihood that he was tested with the defective test kits issued by the CDC. It is widely reported that the first hundreds of batches of test kits were defective.

Yes, given some test kits did not work, one must wonder what is the accuracy of the working test kits? Is it 100% or less?

Everything is happening so fast, it is not inconceivable that mistakes are taking place.

How many people did that person infect, in between release and re-checking positive?

This is happening in other parts of the world, too. Repeated negative tests, than a positive test. Nothing new. Have no idea what is the cause of this.

The initial tests were done in China before they evacuated.
So stop with the CDC blaming.
These people were evacuated 6 weeks ago.
Anyone following the studies being released could read that 14 days is an artificial and low isolation period, with 21-28 days safer,
Patients have tested positive after as many as 8 tests - nonUS
Chinese patients that were discharged as cured are being rehospitalized because they are reinfected or were never really cleared of the virus ( think HIV)

...

It may be safer, but the mean incubation period is six days.

The CDC itself has ADMITTED to issuing many hundreds of defective test kits. They say the error has now been corrected. Obviously, you are not aware of this fact.

BTW, this may come as a surprise to you but, you are powerless to direct the comments on this board one way or another.

LOTS of questions about incubation time, and the window during which the person is contagious.

Until this is established, simple quarantine may not be enough.

Meanwhile, there are steps in simple sanitation and healthy practices to at least reduce the virulence and rapid spread of the disease. For most people, the disease will resemble a sort of cold on superchargers, but like colds, it is also a gateway for pneumonia and other severe respiratory distress, much more complicated.

Until you actually contract the disease, you may not know which category you fall into. Life’s lottery can be a real b!+c#.

Crappy tests. Instrumentation failure. We learn to trust gauges.

Bottom line, they don’t have a field test kit for this that works. Period.

That’s step freaking one.

WHO has blown this. China definitely blew it. It’s now coming home with schoolkids in my town.

I stocked up waiting for the quarantine order that’s inevitable here in the People’s Soviet of Washington.
