Billionaire Tom Steyer wasted over $252 million on his failed presidential campaign, according to federal election records.
The campaign finance report filed on January 30, showed Steyer spent $252,841,942 on his campaign, according to Open Secrets.
Millions more were likely spent as Steyer continued to advertise in Nevada and South Carolina before calling it quits on February 29.
Honestly, I cant see a path where I can win the presidency, Steyer said on Saturday night, sharing his decision to end his campaign.
Steyer was a self-funding billionaire candidate, as 98 percent of his campaign money came from his own pocket.
He easily overspent other failed presidential candidates. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) spent over $25 million on her failed presidential campaign and former Congressman Beto ORourke (D-TX) spent about $14 million on his attempt to win the presidency. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) wasted over $14 million.
Steyer came in third place in South Carolina with 11.3 percent of the vote and in fifth place in Nevada with 4.7 percent of the vote.
He earned zero delegates.
This has been a great experience, I have zero regrets, Steyer said to his supporters on Saturday

[[Whats he gonna live on now?]]
Food stamps and obamacare of course
He quit too early. He could have doubled the number of delegates if he spent just $100 mil more.
Yeah its too bad he didnt stay in longer to garner more zero delegates corner
THAT is funny!!
My college buddy won a state legislature seat and when they asked him how much he planned to spend, he said “Just enough to win”. I think that was Trump’s approach as well.
Look on the bright side, Tom. Now you have more time to work on your dance moves.
Previous billionaires, like Carnegie, Mellon and Getty, started colleges and arts centers which served society for generations. Today’s billionaires use their money to gain personal political power.
Think about it.
JoMa
Too bad they wasted it instead of spending it on the poor.
Money for nothing and your chicks for free...

His commercials were still running this morning; clips of him hanging out with all his life long black friends who Im sure he spends a lot of time with.
Now there are two bigger losers than Yeb!
Proof that even billionaires can spend their money foolishly.
Yeah, he’s down to his last $1.3 billion.
Yes, the democrat socialist advisors, campaign strategists, polling consultants, etc. always benefit with losing campaigns. Almost like laundering money since they’ll end up supporting the nominee.
Yep. The only *good* thing I can say about Steyer or Bloomberg is that it was their own money they were blowing.
I’d rather that than the way Hillary (or Joe Biden for that matter); sold their offices for the personal gain of themselves and their families.
Hes worth 1.6 billion. I think that equals to about 100 dollars for the rest of us. The only disappointment is that he didnt damage joe Biden.
That pasty faced clown was all over California TV for months, I’m sure that was true for all Super Tuesday States. He has to be over 300 million in spending now. LOVE IT!
Someone ought to inform Jebbers that hes been eclipsed as the biggest loser. Please clap...
I thought Jeb! had set an unbeatable record at 50 million per delegate.
But Tom crushed him.
Mike is telling everyone “Hold my beer!”
“I think that was Trumps approach as well.”
it was exactly trump’s approach! he even bragged about it afterwards, including after the general election ... but it’s clear that Trump has different goals this, particularly since he seems to have nearly unlimited campaign funds this time compared to last, namely:
1. He’s trying to win a majority in the House and keep a majority in the Senate
2. I think he is trying for an electoral vote blowout
3. I think he’s trying for “popular” vote win
4. But even more importantly, he knows he’s got to counter the billions that mini-mike will be injecting into the Dem Congressional races ...
