Several House Republicans left a closed-door coronavirus briefing on Friday after Rep. Rosa DeLauro spoke critically of the Trump administrations efforts to protect the American public from the global epidemic.
According to a transcript, DeLauro, D-3rd District, said she supported the administrations declaration of a public health emergency that allows states like Connecticut more flexibility in spending federal public health money.
That said, I have grave concerns about the lack of transparency and unwillingness to allow public health experts to speak freely about what is happening, DeLauro said. There are reports that Vice President Mike Pence, appointed by President Donald Trump to lead the coronavirus response, wants to coordinate all messaging from public health officials about the virus.
DeLauro, the chairwoman of the House Appropriations subcommittee in charge of the Department of Health and Human Services budget, also said, I have serious concerns about the administrations responsiveness with respect to funding.
We have repeatedly asked for information about expenditures, she said. And thus far, we have not received adequate answers.

Rep. de Lauro, do you want us to spend our time fixing this viral invasion, or would you rather we spend our time and resources in making reports to you about how much were spending on an hourly basis? And yes, we need one voice for information.
I had always wondered where Corporal Klinger went when
the series folded.
I can’t imagine anyone in a position of importance
taking this woman seriously. It’s no wonder that
people walked out of the meeting. My granddaughter
has red highlights, she’s 14.
Aaaaagh, my eyes!!!!!!
1. They want to blame Trump for the disease. Like Bush was responsible for Hurricane Katrina, Trump is responsible for a disease. Republicans are responsible for all natural disasters. Yes, the media and 50% of America are stupid enough to believe this. See TDS.
2. They want the mother of all Congressional pork bills by blackmailing Trump into signing one, 90% of which will do absolutely nothing to fight the spread of disease or help victims.
What is wrong with coordinating the message? The last thing we want is for the government to give mixed messages about the current crisis. If one official were telling people to stay at home and avoid crowded venues, and another were telling people to wear masks when they go out, people would be confused. Or if different information were being given about case numbers, people would get the idea that the government has no clue.
It looks like she is criticizing for the sake of criticizing, and not because of any actual shortcomings in the response to Covid-19.
Betcha the other HHS programs are money-funnelling schemes, and the Dems don’t want to lose the gravy train.
OH, MY! The picture speaks volumes!
Freak.
I’m saying you’re right on the money in #2. I hadn’t thought about a Pork Bill, but it makes sense. Thanks.
Her thinking is as warped as any scripted heinous character.
The "Wicked Witch of the West" is actually more attractive.. really!
Looks like he became a US Congress critter. I am glad I was wearing sunglasses, when I saw him. I assume its a him, but I am not 💯% sure. 😆😁
I bet he can still sing Time Stand Still as well as he did 33 years ago.
Yet another embarrassment from my state.
I figured it was this whack job. I’m surprised she’s still around.
That’s a congresswoman?
Looks like the Wicked Witch of the West.
Which guy? :-P
