Coronavirus is an “info-demic,” a panic caused by the spread of partial and often misleading information about a health risk, sometimes deliberately.
The virus is real, and a small number of people have been infected. But it is going to pass.
It is an unpleasant respiratory illness, but it is not an organ-destroying horror like Ebola. Precautions are being taken, a vaccine will emerge, and life will continue as usual.
Here are five specific reasons to chill out.
1. Coronavirus is a familiar illness, and not as bad as others. It is from the SARS family — and less deadly.

2. The U.S. response has been exceptionally good. There have only been 16 cases thus far, none deadly. President Donald Trump bought precious time by stopping travel to China last month — a step critics said was overly drastic. Democrats are screaming about funding and staff cuts that never actually happened.

5. The same people who want you to panic about coronavirus want you to panic about everything.

Why do you think I am angry? I am not the least bit angry.
Many of you guys are not used to being challenged. And you take that as anger. It’s not. It’s called debate or discussion.
90% of the time, when challenged, you guys resort to name calling or hyperbole. That’s not my fault.

btw, Y2K was real, but enough IT people (like myself) stuck their necks out at our corporations and raised enough hell that we forced ossified management off the golf courses long enough to take the matter seriously enough to devote resources to fixing the problem BEFORE it occurred, which is why the predicted problem didn’t occur ... there were thousands of us beavering away to fix it, but we first had to convince management to make it a priority ...
one interesting consequence is that whenever anyone fills out a form anymore, we all have become habituated to entering all four digits of the year, instead of the 20th century habit of entering only the last two digits ... probably most people don’t even remember doing that, even ones who were adults then and automatically did it hundreds of time that way then ...

Why do you believe China is the pattern the US will follow? People steeped in incredible pollution, many of whom smoked like chimneys, in a totalitarian country with abominable health care.

but, i might add, i agree 100% with you about the tediousness of the ignorant handwringers here, particularly the vast bulk who like to make up “facts” to justify their negativity and alarmism ...
nonetheless, i think it’s obvious to everyone, that the fake stream enemedia has deliberately seized on this latest issue, and has been deliberately over-blowing it and deliberately trying to foster panic, and that their primary motive is to try to hurt President Trump ... that’s not a difficult conclusion to arrive at, because for four years EVERYTHING the fake stream enemedia has done is to try to deliberately hurt President Trump ... they probably view coronavirus as a godsend to take the emphasis off of the Democrat party disintegration and the fact that the Dems are on the verge of nominating an old white guy who is radical, avowed communist as their standard-bearer, all the while two other old white guys who are super-rich billionaires have managed to buy their way into the Dem power vacuum ...

It could be an atypical case. It could not be. There is just not enough information to yet know.
It has nothing to do with being challenged. You are using insults to bully people. Actually, the idea that you refer to dialogue and exchanging of information as a challenge may explain your hostility. We are, just as you, learning, discussing, and sharing information. This is a forum.
I appreciate you keeping the ball rolling in these threads. But, not the insults that come out of no-where.

Seriously, there is so much that we do not know about this thing. Assuming it will end the world is not reasonable. On the other side, if you are thinking this is no difference than the flu is equally reckless.
There are a lot of people dismissing this out of hand are just as dangerous as those running around with their hair on fire.

Yes. Freedom DOES. FREE people will get things done with a speed and creativity the Crony Communism of China cannot match. We have a totally different society and OURS handles dangers far better than China’s.
