Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz sparred with New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over several unanswered science questions.
The spat began Thursday when Ocasio-Cortez criticized President Donald Trump for putting Vice President Mike Pence in charge of the task force responding to Coronavirus.
Cruz responded by asking Ocasio-Cortez, As you are speaking as the oracle of science, tell us, what exactly is a Y chromosome?

At the time of publication, Ocasio-Cortez had not responded to any of the questions. She can't. Winning an award is not the same thing as actually earning a hard science degree.
The Barmaid Speaker of the House needs to go back to skool and larn sumpin'.

If there is one, it probably involves a donkey somewhere south of Tijuana.

My impression is she is a good short study, able to memorize and speak to studies performed by others giving the appearance of her own derivation. In Texas, we used to call that fraud. Back east above the Mason-Dixon, they call that entrepreneurial genius. That is why I always interviewed science fair contestants in more detail than their prepared speech. Follow up questions are key. Well over 50% of those with nearly professional-quality sign boards and great superficial explanations of their results had no idea what they were talking about. I'm an MIT graduate with a good foundation in the sciences but not an expert in any of them; I'm a math person. When I know far more about the science than the specialist who is presenting, I become curious about whose work I am seeing.

Ted probably would have been an okay president or vp at least. But I would love to have seen him on the Supreme Court or as Attorney General.
He has rough spots but we “can’t spare this man; he fights!”.

The bar is low....for Dems.In 2007, Ocasio-Cortez won a prize at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in microbiology. The ISEF is the largest pre-college scientific research event in the world. She entered in her senior year of high school with a project on Caenorhabditis elegan (C. elegan) lifespan extension, with her findings indicating that antioxidants could potentially help prevent degenerative illnesses induced by oxidative stress.
So you're saying that national politics propelled a HS junior's experiment with roundworms to 2nd place in a national event? What exactly is the DNC's stance on roundworm growth?
