Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) lashed out at Mick Mulvaney on Friday after the acting White House chief of staff accused the media of reporting on the coronavirus as part of an effort to "take down the president.”
Schumer argued in a statement that the Trump administration had "learned nothing from the Chinese government’s failure to quickly and transparently combat the coronavirus."
"For Mick Mulvaney to suggest that Americans turn off their TVs and bury their heads in the sand when they’re worried about a global health pandemic is Orwellian, counterproductive, dangerous, and would be repeating China’s mistake," Schumer added.
Mulvaney, speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Friday, accused the media of peddling a false narrative about the administration “scrambling” to contain the virus and said the press was ignoring the coronavirus until now because publications were too preoccupied with Trump’s impeachment before that.

Besides, who would watch Schumer running to the mic to spread more fear if they turned tv off? The Dems and the media are once again going to face a backlash for peddling this panic for political gain.

I tried calling Schumer’s office earlier and didn’t get a response, but just tried again after seeing this thread. I told the girl who answered that if the Democrats were so concerned about the response to the virus, and weren’t trying to politicize the situation like they did when they tried to blame George Bush for 9/11, then they would be calling for the President to close the border, especially in light of the fact that active Coronavirus cases have been reported in Mexico, and also in light of the 9th Circuit Court Judge who overturned (hopefully temporarily) the rule that illegals will be held in Mexico.

Mulvaney is correct in his assessment of the assenine comments of the democrat party.
Upchuck Schumer cannot possibly be talking out of his rectal orifice, as that portion of his anatomy has more native good sense. It is his eating mouth that seems to be out of control, ejecting verbal diarrhea at every opportunity.
Lack of transparency on the part of President Trump? What universe is Upchuck in, that he cannot recognize transparency on full display before himself? What facts were not made known to Upchuck in a full and honest disclosure? Is Upchuck really dedicated to having the coronavirus do to Trump what charges of collusion, open mockery on the airways, and a failed fake impeachment could not do?

I actually agree with Schumer on this.
Mulvaney’s don’t worry be happy comment are counter productive. They will cause more panic than an honest assessment of the threat and the responses being taken.
And I wonder if Mulvaney cleared his comments through Pence’s office?
The government should not adopt a stance that there is no threat.
Nor should it adopt a stance that wide spread contagion in the US is inevitable, because they should be fighting against that very thing.
The people who say it’s inevitable worry me because they won’t lift a finger to stop it.
And the people who say there is no threat are either stupid or lying.
Give us honest assessments, tell us what you are doing, and tell us what steps we should take to mitigate the risks.
