U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is calling for a suspension of flights to Hawaii from South Korea and Japan amid growing concerns about the coronavirus. It is irresponsible for our leaders to endanger the health and well-being of Hawaiis people by continuing to allow travel from Japan and South Korea," Gabbard said, in a statement Wednesday. I know there will be economic hardship, but it will pale in comparison to the cost in lives and economic damage to Hawaii and our country if we dont suspend travel from these countries.

A wall, perhaps? Especially on the southern border? Why didn’t I think of that?
I’m in Vietnam, and I do too.
Everyone here is prepared. Everyone is wearing a mask, everywhere. There are informative things on TV in restaurants and stores.
I see them all the time. Everywhere.
I think it would make a lot of sense to me more prepared, than not prepared enough.
Just me.
Don’t worry. USA is always gonna have low numbers because they
don’t test much. China controls their numbers in a similar way.
Hawaii will seem completely safe if they never test anyone.
Ok, wondering what to do. I have travel plans next month to fly from Houston, Texas to Bangkok, Thailand with the connecting airport at Narita, Japan. I have spent a lot of time in Thailand for almost thirty years. This trip is a reunion of friends, my girlfriend lives in Thailand and I have many friends living there and traveling to there for a huge get together over st. Patrick’s Day. None of of us are overly concerned about ontracting COVID-19. What troubles us is not knowing what may happen.
What happens if after we arrive in Thailand a travel ban is put in place and we can’t return to our home countries. Anybody, thoughts or advice???
“from South Korea and Japan”
Yep, punish the countries testing people and not lying about the number of infected. /s
Tulsi is the only sane Democrat in my book. Sorry she is hated by the perpetual war machine on both sides of the aisle.
She has been talking about Covid-19 from the get go, but has been totally ignored. Heck, Mexico has run more tests than the US has. We are not being proactive
Wouldn’t people just take indirect flights?
There is sane democrat.
I agree.
Trump is, I believe proud of the job he has done since taking office. Rightly so.
He does not want a pull-back or retraction in the economy. He wants to be very successful.
But in my humble opinion, this is serious. I think he should pull out all the stops, and aggressively fight this.
Not stall.
I do not believe anyone, anywhere will blame him for being too careful.
I do however think, lots of people will aggressively go after him, if he is not seem to be, being fully engaged, and defending America.
This is potentially catastrophic, in my view.
Don’t blow this Mr. President.
You have to quarantine your pet when moving to Hawaii...
> Wouldnt people just take indirect flights? <
Good point. For a quarantine to be truly effective, youd have to look at where the individual passengers have been.
I wouldn’t go anywhere that I wouldn’t be able to go around a roadblock in my 4x4. In other words I wouldn’t leave the States.
Hey Tulsi the President has the situation in control thank you very much
A. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
B. "Dont panic, Chicken Little. The sky is not falling."
I'll take a little of A, and a little of B while I wait
to see if the hardest hit when the smoke clears, turn
out "coincidentally" to be the Protesters and the Christians.
We've got our masks and gloves and wipes already,
and various backup means to achieve clean water.
I did add a couple cases of Spam to the pantry, and
some other canned meats, and filled the vehicle gas tanks.
I still have to service some of our room and house air
filters. I'm kind of overkill with ionic, electrostatic,
HEPA air filters, to keep Dad breathing easy. Those can't
hurt to help keep any viral load low... And there's real
soap by all the sinks, which gets stuff the sanitizers miss.
We're always prepped to bug in for a couple months.
For the current threat, I've also restocked medicine
cabinets and tossed the old stuff.
Dad suspects I bought too much toilet paper...
I'll make up for it by getting more paper towels... ;-)
I'll add to my liquor cabinet and other preps to do my
part to keep the economy going, until we choose to bug in,
and keep visitors on the other side of the video doorbell. ;-)
Tulsi suddenly wants to build a wall.
Trying to out Trump Trump?Bring Out Your DeadGood luck with that...
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Should block flights from Hawaii to the US to keep Gabbard and Hirono the hell out.
I find it interesting how different the mindset is in the US. Here, people go to work sick, don’t wear masks, touch surfaces hundreds of others have and then don’t wash their hands often and if you have an instinct to be prepared for stuff “just in case” or think ahead to prevent a bad situation you’re thought of and sometimes even called a “kook.”
Yeah but the Dems think that’s racist, so they won’t let it happen.
