Coronavirus: Outbreak spreads in Europe from Italy
BBC ^ | 02 26 2020 | Staff

Posted on 02/26/2020 8:05:24 AM PST by yesthatjallen

Several European countries have announced their first coronavirus cases, all apparently linked to the growing outbreak in Italy.

Austria, Croatia, Greece and Switzerland said the cases involved people who had been to Italy, as did Algeria in Africa.

The first positive virus test has been recorded in Latin America - a Brazilian resident just returned from Italy.

Italy has in recent days become Europe's worst-affected country.

Authorities have confirmed more than 300 cases and 12 deaths there, the most recent a 70-year-old resident of Lombardy who died after being taken to intensive care in Parma. The country has also seen four children infected.

But what would things look like if we could subtract deep state and leftist influence on news stories?

Would the corona virus be anywhere in sight?

Just heard there's a case in Brazil, a traveler from Italy...
Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

How many cases are WE getting from Italy right now.

Will CDC ever agree that recent arrivals from Italy might need to self quarantine (or heaven forbid, actually be tested?)

If the Italian is in Brazil for Carnival then he probably transmitted the disease to scores of people.

The CDC is no longer doing anything to prevent the spread to the United States. It is deemed to offensive to block travel, millions of us must die so that they can have their fun vacations here.

Brazil hasn’t rated a red dot on the JHU CSSE map yet, but it is on their list.

Yup.

Check back in Rio in about 3 weeks for any further contact cases.

I wonder if the number of death is according to the health care system. Could be average age of population, health, smoking.

China Infected: 78064 Death 2715 percentage 3.5%
S Korea Infected: 1261 Death 12 percentage 1%
Italy Infected: 374 Death 12 percentage 3.2%

Looks like South Korea has a good health care system

Unlike the rest of the world, our test kits don't work...

...funny that, hilarious you might say.

CDC WANTS it here to get trump with it.

I love the people who think just because they will use the virus ‘panic’ to ‘get trump’ that must mean the virus is harmless and ‘just hype’.

Good question.

IMHO the lower mortality in SK is due to a large number of ‘recent’ and ‘asymptomatic’ positives from their extensive testing.

Ie, their cases are likely to be ‘new’ cases that haven’t needed ICU beds.

I’m interested in the numbers from SK in 3 or 4 weeks when those recently infected will have ‘resolved’ one way or another.

The Fake News and Romney have just figured out we have a virus issue. Trump has had a daily press conference in different parts of the government. Government and government supported web-sites chronicle the virus and all known information. The Army has 9 bases handling infected Americans. The Army has sent planes to Japan and China to collect our citizens in harms way. Most of the cases in America are those cases.

The Press and the congress is just now figuring out there is an issue. But Trump has been on it since January. Its just that they did not want to take the news cycle off impeachment. Welcome to real news, CNN and MSNBC and Romney. You better hurry up, Trump has already lapped you.

I think South Korea might be a good indicator on how bad the Virus will be or not be in 3 to 4 weeks if they keep on top testing.

I am very impress with South Korea response.

If the Italian is in Brazil for Carnival then he probably transmitted the disease to scores of people.

It's likely this man in Brazil came in contact with many people considering it was Carnaval time and that Sao Paulo is a huge densely populated city.

My understanding is that this virus is less contagious in humid conditions than in dry air. It will be interesting to see if the spread in Brazil where it is hot and humid now is lower than the spread in Italy where it is winter. Although it would appear that Brazil has identified patient zero while Italy did not. It all depends on how many people this Brazilian man came in contact with while he was contagious and before he sought treatment.

As far as I know, no.

(not that temp screens do any good at all...)

Ya.

I applaud SK. Their CDC actually is on the ball here.

We will pick up the mortality/morbidity from ‘mild’ cases that might not have been caught otherwise.

And Singapore’s contact tracing is a good thing as well. Lets us know just how contagious this thing really is.

Meanwhile, our valiant CDC workers still strive for a functioning test in all 50 states and bravely manage to complete a dozen or so tests per day.

A lot depends on how many air conditioned spaces this particular Italian frequented.

While hot/humid (and for ‘hot’, think 90F) may lower the life span of the virus on surfaces, the temp/humidity of air conditioned spaces is just like it likes it.

Italy?

Stringiamci a coorte,
siam pronti alla morte.
Siam pronti alla morte,
l’Italia chiamò.
Stringiamci a coorte,
siam pronti alla morte.
Siam pronti alla morte,
l’Italia chiamò! Si!
