President Trump said in an early-morning tweet on Wednesday that he will hold a news conference at 6 p.m. to address his administration's response to the coronavirus outbreak.
In the post, he continued to blame the media and Democrats for overstating the danger of the disease, even as health experts have warned of its spread.
Trump accused MSNBC and CNN of "doing everything possible to make the Caronavirus look as bad as possible, including panicking markets, if possible." The president initially misspelled the name of the virus.
He insisted the U.S. is "in great shape" in its handling of the disease, adding that he and health officials will hold a news conference at the White House on Wednesday evening.

The observed facts thus far suggest that Trump is correct. While there is little doubt that given the unrestricted travel of thousands from Wusan, China over the last six weeks to multiple points in the US, the virus is here and given the lack of diagnostic kits, there most probably have been multiple mild cases being misdiagnosed as “flu”. Yet there have been no Korea or China massive outbreaks with the 3% mortality.
Why? The answer may be in the very politically incorrect fact that Asiatics have a greater genetic susceptibility to this pathogen. Also when infected the disease is much more severe.
The first hint was that in the epicenter Wusan there were numerous Caucasians and Africans living and working. Yet despite the restricted information coming out of China, there incidence of serious infections in this group appears to be minimal. No deaths have been reported among them.
Yet what about Italy and Iran? In Italy the region that reported the outbreak is an area where there are numerous Chinese immigrants and “guest workers” who labor in the Italian garment industry. It is very politically incorrect to report the race of those who have become ill, the severity of the illness and just who has in fact died. In Iran the current population is an assilimation of many genetic contributors including the Chinese. The “Silk Road” transversed Iran. The Chinese merchants, their guards and parties no doubt spent considerable time in Iran resting and recuperating after coming out of the Asian deserts and mountains or before they returned. They were not monks and no doubt left a significant genetic footprint. That included the genetic susceptibility to COVID-19.
speculation? Of course. Much more data and research is needed. But if Caucasians and Africans do not have the same genetic susceptibility as Asiatics, then Trump is correct. This disease will not have a major outbreak in the US but will effect some population groups. This speculation of course is diametrically contrary to the current WHO narrative.
He sees this panic rightfully as killing the stock market the last few days. That needs to end. Don’t know how in the world that will get back to the “normal” trading we have been seeing the last few years. The market had been going gang busters . It was his bragging right.

not only are the number of cases a tiny tiny fraction of the population....even if you do get it, it’s basically a cold unless you have all the same risk factors that make the flu dangerous as well.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been told teh sky is falling.
We’re restricting travel. Testing. No doubt work is being done on a vaccine. We are doing a good job of treating those who catch it - unlike the Chinese.
What else is there?
Death rates in China and Iran are MEANINGLESS! We aren’t those hell-holes. We aren’t Italy, either.

In this case the virus is actually way more of a threat than the ‘common cold’ or even ‘the flu’.
There aren’t many cases here officially because the CDC isn’t actually testing anyone. 46 states STILL don’t have testing kits for this and we STILL aren’t testing anyone who isn’t a recent arrival from China.
In this case the choice isn’t A, virus meaningless CDC trying to get trump. The choice is B. virus is serious, CDC trying to get trump.
I don’t think pairs are going to be growing anytime soon given what has become of society as of 2020. Even here on FR what do you see? It’s amazing.

Trump is right. This is the biggest hype since the ebola scare. Almost everyone who gets this virus recovers from it. Nobody in the US has died from it that I know of. Thousands have already died here from the regular flu. Not a single mention of it on CNN.
Why, just a few months back, the media was hyperventilating about Pres. Trump starting WW3. Now they’re yammering about a virus. The media’s credibility is zero.
In 2028 80,000 people died from the regular flu in the US. Normally 30,000-40,000.
