The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Tuesday alerted Americans to begin preparing for the spread of coronavirus in the United States, after the flu-like virus surfaced in several more countries.
The announcement signals a change in tone for the U.S. health agency, which had largely been focused on efforts to stop the virus from entering the country and quarantining individuals traveling from China.

No but the FDA said they had plenty of PPE on hand...
bet it isn’t for the public though
Ebola didn’t scare me.
This one does as it is already spreading way faster.
They’re entrenched - maybe just let ‘em twist in the wind.
Already have food and water stockpiled (cuz I always do), already talked to schools about their procedures, talked to the boss about working from home, and still wash my hands like I’m scrubbing for surgery.
That’s about all the panic I can work up. I learned from Tommy Turtle. ;)
The virus is smaller than normal. So it can penetrate most anything a person would DIY. Plus, you’d have to figure out how to don/doff for 8 weeks at least.
The CDC official who is fueling the hysteria just happens to be Rosenweasel’s sister. The rats are trying to tank the economy with this. It is replacing the Russia hoax.
“Meanwhile the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Tuesday alerted Americans to begin preparing for the spread of coronavirus in the United States, after the flu-like virus surfaced in several more countries.”
Their advice:”Businesses, schools and families should begin having discussions about the possibility that their lives may be disrupted if the virus begins spreading within U.S. communities, authorities said.”
The most used government advise these days. “Have a discussion”. How about advice on storing food, water and medical supplies?
Speend all of your money to prop up the pharmaceutical companies and roll up your sleeve. Wait for thy lord n savior the government to save your life. Get some knee pads so y po you will be more comfortable when you bow to them.
When I was a kid, they taught me to hide under my desk because the A-Bombs might come.
They didnt.
Im still here.

Yep....Yep....& HELL YEP....
After attending ABC ‘training’ in USNavy Boot Camp, I vowed to NEVER trust an adult again.
Remember when the A & H Bomb tests in the Pacific late 40s, early 50s, when the sailors were instructed to make sure ALL buttons were buttoned and don’t look directly at blast or some other such foolishness.
They (GOVT) go from the dumbest thing going to get even dumber BUT push more regulations and restrictions on us.
Remember the ‘asbestos’ scare? Just before it ended (rather abruptly) it was costing more to tear down a one story house than it did to build the 10 story high rise that was replacing it.
Gee....once they bled it dry, the danger was gone.
Instead of working round the clock trying to develop a ‘cure’ and planning on how to mass produce masks, all are sitting around and wringing hands and we are so ‘immune’ to all the BS, that any new ‘problem’ is handled in the chicken little fashion....
Much like New Orleans, money kept getting poured into the city to fix the ‘levees etc’ that actually enriched some folks and all the false alarms, when a real storm hit, everybody stayed home as they were tired of all the false alarms.....
You CAN make your own masks.
Here is one url, thanks to whoever posted it here just a while ago:

And apparently there are lots of similar sites on YouTube
Flu kills ~80,000/yr.
Due to its pervasiveness & mutability, we largely accept it as a danger of living and move on. Pretty much nothing we can do about it, brushing it off as “most who die would have soon anyway.”
COVID19 is still of largely unknown virulence and lethality. It hits a different category. Those dead will be in _addition_ to flu deaths. If it can be stopped, better that it is stopped - vs just letting it run rampant.
You can be wrong about how bad it is.
You can be wrong about it being “nothingburger”.
Decide which kind of wrong you’d rather be.
Upshot: be prepared to “turtle”, shelter in place, quarantine, etc. You should already have enough on hand to keep family healthy, isolated at home, for a few months - regardless of the problem.
Paint masks are worthless as a virus or bacteria particle is small enough to go through the mask.
They just issued the panic. That’s all they did. I watched it live on FB. Comments were from lots of people literally terror stricken.
A Chinese guy was caught without a mask and 3 guys (secret police from the way he was held - execution style) tied him up and forced him to wear a pink bra over his face ...
A mask is mostly a reminder not to touch your face and will not likely keep COVID9 at bay - you would need a L4 bio suit to be sure
Masks can last varying times - four hours to several days, depending on usage. You will need hundreds of N95s to be adequately supplied for a few months
“Looks like the its nothing!!! people are the most panicked and histrionic for some reason.”

It’s strange how some have to so strongly and repeatedly report they are not panicky. Something like the ones who are driven to jump into threads to declare they really, really don’t care about the topic at hand. Insert quote RE: “protesting too much” here.
Kind of sad, but funny.
Ah, well, it takes all types.
I just watched the CDC Press Conference. I was impressed with the planning they have in place. I have been following the response and I am encouraged that they have mapped the structure of the virus and have a couple of potential vaccine candidates going into production. They also are pro-actively addressing the problems with the supply chain (e.g availability of masks).
I know. The average american will need to spend thousands of dollars just on one person. Can’t imagine a whole family.
There are several good prepper sites. Don’t trust the guberment on anything.
Better to prepare and have it come to nothing than to find oneself and one’s family
dreadfully ill and unable to respond.
