It's not a matter of if the novel coronavirus will spread throughout the United States, but when, said Centers for Disease Control and Prevention vaccine expert Nancy Messonnier.
"Disruption to everyday life might be severe," Messonnier, who is the director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, told reporters Tuesday.
Messonnier said she told her children over breakfast that they will need to begin preparing for an escalated outbreak. Parents and caregivers, she said, should ask officials at their children's schools about plans for school dismissals, closures, and teleschool in case the virus spreads in their school districts.
"I contacted my local school superintendent this morning with exactly those questions," Messonnier said. "All of these questions can help you be better prepared for what might happen."

Just wish people would let people prepare to their comfort level...Some people live in urban areas or are elderly/ have health issues...Of course they are very concerned... But for them their concerns are very valid and don’t deserve the dissing that occurs. Heck...the gravity of the issue was all over Fox Business News today...and market showed it by dropping nearly another 900 points...
My motto is plan for the worst and hope for the best. I am fully prepped for this and other contingencies BTW.

Most parents in 1954 had one staying at home.
Today, most kids are from single parent house holds. Almost all married couples have both spouses working.

In my lifetime, there have been a few severe snowstorms that have cut off power and made shopping impossible and deliveries sketchy. The grocery shelves were empty. Once, in the 50s or 60s it was up to two weeks for some families.
What would you and your family need to survive that? Batteries, a camping stove, candles, warm clothing, can opener, duct tape, first aid kit, prescription meds, food, water, sleeping bags, a few games and books for entertainment, etc. There is no reason to go full-out-prep-crazy..

I wonder if we could douse a package of Pampers wipes with clorox and use them as needed. (just don’t wipe behinds!)
