I guess Africa is hopeless.

Although it doesn't make me an expert on Africa I have done a fair amount of traveling there and spent a fair amount of time there...at least around East Africa and southern Africa.

It's my understanding that Africa is awash in valuable resources...oil,copper and many others. My limited knowledge of the continent suggests that government corruption is one of the most important,if not *the* most important,problem there.

The parts that aren’t totally hopeless get overwhelmed by the parts that are plus bad fortune. Ethiopia is desperately trying to be a modern country, for example, but they keep getting run over by bad luck and hostile neighbors. And then when they start making progress, idiot tribalists start cranking up problems with other tribes.
