Both the White House and former Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) have denied offering WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange a pardon in exchange for his denying Russian involvement in stealing emails from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in 2016.
One of Assanges lawyers, Edward Fitzgerald, said in British court on Feb. 19 that Rohrabacher made the offer on behalf of President Donald Trump when visiting Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London in 2017.
White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham called it complete fabrication and a total lie.
The president barely knows Dana Rohrabacher other than hes an ex-congressman, she said. Hes never spoken to him on this subject or almost any subject.
Rohrabacher issued a statement on Feb. 19 saying he only promised to put in a word with Trump on Assanges behalf.
When speaking with Julian Assange, I told him that if he could provide me information and evidence about who actually gave him the DNC emails, I would then call on President Trump to pardon him, Rohrabacher said. At no time did I offer a deal made by the President, nor did I say I was representing the President.
Upon his return, he said, he spoke briefly about the matter with Trumps then-Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly.
I told him that Julian Assange would provide information about the purloined DNC emails in exchange for a pardon, he said. No one followed up with me including Gen. Kelly and that was the last discussion I had on this subject with anyone representing Trump or in his Administration.

Didn’t Assange say publicly at the time that his source wasn’t the Russians? That’s how I remember it.
Yes, he did; many times over!
Assange unequivocally said that “it wasn’t any state actor.”
He left it at that. The statement speaks for itself.
This article adds some details I hadn’t seen before. The story from Crowdstrike has always been that the hackers transferred emails from a DNC server to a remote site over the internet.
What this article indicates is that there is no evidence that the Microsoft Exchange server where the database of email files would have been maintained was hacked. This would have been evident if trojan horse malware had been found by a Crowstrike scan on the MS Exchange server but it wasn’t.
This has always been the key to the entire IC assessment finding that Russia hacked the DNC server to help Trump win in 2016. Their story is falling apart.
There have been other arguments that the “hack” couldn’t have happened due to technical limitations. Tech that I don’t understand. As long as the DNC server and Crowdstrike’s analysis of it remain secret I don’t know if anything can ever be proved. As long as the Deep State remains in control of the DoJ and FBI they will remain secret.
