I’ve driven down to Rocky Point restaurant in Big Sur and back many times and usually a bit drunk. Never had a problem.
Not the Pikes Peak road to the summit, that’s another story.

I’ve driven it a number of times too, and I agree. Yikes. Widow Maker, for sure!
I felt safer on the Autobahn when I was stationed in Germany!

Drove it back in 2003 in our MR2 Spyder. This was before they closed the old bridges. My son was at the DLI, and we took Highway 1 home in the sports car. One of the nicest drives of my life.

We’re a mere 2,400 miles by road from Sacramento or 2,000 by air. There’s a great 120 mile loop trip for bikers that incorporates the Dragon and takes the better part of a day to ride.
To: steve8714
haha. Exactly. And that’s a narrow 2 lanes that requires eyes on the road far ahead & hands on the wheel.

I hope it was not related to a cell/selfie/text/call thing. Sad for family and friends.

“Not the Pikes Peak road to the summit, thats another story.”
I drove up Pike’s Peak in a full-sized Cadillac, late 1980’s. The rental company screwed up our car rental and they gave us that.
I was fine, but my girlfriend in the back got to the side of the car closest to the mountain side and didn’t say much on the way up or back down, LOL!

Yeah, I saw that. Horrifying. I just read they found the bodies in the backseat in an embrace. Probably knew they were going to die. Could be alcohol involved. Tragic.

I drove Colorado 82 and CA 1 (PCH) in my 87 Mazda RX-7. It was a piece of cake and beautiful scenery to boot.
