The Illinois House Republican leader blasted President Trump on Tuesday for granting clemency to former Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who was convicted of trying to sell Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat after he was elected president.
"It's very disappointing," Jim Durkin told reporters in the state capitol in Springfield. We have a massive federal investigation into corruption in the state of Illinois and this action distracts and dilutes what I think is the proper role of the Department of Justice to root out corruption,
He said Blagojevich was "rouge on steroids" during his tenure as governor.

Illinois rooting out corruption
That’s funny right there
We need a pool! $10 to play.
Your list of 30 people President Trump will pardon or commute sentence before election day.
Each one must blow the minds of Liberals, or at least trigger the snowflakes
Wonder what dirt Blago knows that he might be willing to put in a book now?
So why did Trump pardon Blagojevich?
Correct. He meant rogue, not rouge, on steroids.

You have my sympathy. The drunk driving scumbag who killed my father 20 years also only got 3 years.
Nope - setting up for a Flynn/Stone set of pardons...vs. just commutation of sentences.
I don’t question your bonafides and am trying to figure out what...if anything...we disagree on. I know Chicago pretty well myself having grown up on the southside, working for the city two summers as a Lake Michigan life guard, a reserve policeman in a city bordering Chicago, and working in a federal law enforcement related career for 25 years 17 of which were in the loop. For the last 49 years I’ve lived in suburban Chicago and have followed the illannoy political scene VERY closely. So there. I agree that the federal and state criminal “justice” systems are hideous and can’t suck too much.
An excellent summation .. thank you.
The memory of some of y’all amazes me !
I suppose DJT/staff had their reasons; all I remembered was that Blago was just another Dim crook.
So, I humbly stand corrected ;-)
That was my theory at the time it happened. What was the big hurry to arrest Blagojevich? Obama wasn't going to be sworn in for another month or so. They might have caught Blago in the act if they had let it play out..
I think this is the real key to this action. Fitzgerald turned out to be dirty and he built his name on this prosecution. Beneath the surface, you may find that Blago gave up something for this. And, I think you are on the money about who may be the targets of this effort.
Bingo. Gotta pardon a few Dems to keep it fair. Besides Blago got 14 years for a 2-5 year crime. He’s 8 years in. Enough already.
