The raw number of guns is not the issue.. the issue is how many individuals were flagged and for what reasons...
Need some more accurate reporting before folks go off all half cocked.
Florida has 21.3 Million citizens. even if this is a 1 gun per confiscation which I doubt, my guess is the typical gun confiscation under red flag is multiple guns per individual.. but lets just say its a 1 to 1... that equates to a 0.016% confiscation rate against the entire population...
Approximately 5% of adults experience a mental illness in any one year, so hardly are we looking at anything that looks remotely like its a wholesale systemic abuse of the law.
I have no doubt that you are going to find individual cases that are questionable, if you dig into them, but as a whole, this isn’t looking like any sort of huge evidence that the law is being abused wholesale.
Yeah. I dont think its as big a problem as some folks here think. You have to be pretty crazy to get our guns taken.
A better question is whether it accomplishes anything. I dont know how youd determine that.

Without due process, any confiscation is abuse...
I agree that some should not be allowed weapons but w/o that pesky due process, the whole thing is an unconstitutional travesty.
As Rush pointed out some years ago, our whole Justice system is supposed to be predicated on the concept that it’s better to let 100 guilty folks go free than to convict even one innocent person.....and these folks aren’t even being convicted...just accused and “evaluated” (to use the term loosely).
Good points.
............
How many of these cases actually resulted in confiscations?
...........
How many of these cases involved a child custody/divorce dispute?
...........
Cheap shot divorce attorneys must be drooling over these kinds of laws.
